Moving up from 1550 to 2400

My first foil purchase was an Armstrong 1550 with 232 real wing. I weigh 200lbs and use a SIC 6'5" 114L SUP foil board. 1550 works great on my setup behind the boat and is surprisingly easy to get up in 1ft to 2ft surf. The place I was struggling was Wing Foiling. "If it were just five more knots," I kept saying I would be flying instead of the walk of shame. I reached out to Trip at Real Watersports, and his team recommended I get the Armstrong 2400 and 300 rear wing. At first, I was "no way" I'm already having problems keeping 1550 in the water, so 2400 would be too big. I eventually listened to the Real, and from day one, it's changed my foiling. In the first session, I was up wing foiling in 12-15 knots. The next day I paddled out in 2ft to 3ft surf. I was shocked that the 2400 was twice as easy to control and didn't brach the surface. The controlled lift is amazing, and I was able to pump back out twice. I didn't think I could pump out on a 6'5" board, but with the 2400 it was easy. I'm happy to have my 1550, and I know I will use it in bigger surf and as my skill improves. If you have a larger frame or want to fast-track your foiling, the Armstrong 2400 is the way.
