from 1604 reviewsWell that was more fun than expected. UHA 970/220 tail on a FoilDrive setup in really small wind chop. Much softer take offs and I never felt it stall, Noticeably longer glide, Pumping was easy and balanced and it turned better than I thought it would. Comparrison foil was my HA1180. The 970 was rather easy to get back under me after a deep hard carve. One thing that I noticed right away other than the ease of controlling lift throughout the entire speed range was it has a little slippery feeling. Probably due to the thinner and smaller tips that resulted in less drag and looser Yaw tracking. Three sessions now in different conditions and it has quickly become my fav for light winds. Can’t wait to see how it does going fast.
Thanks Brenden and Matt. Spot on recommendation.
Awesome board. Perfect length for behind a boat. Very light but stiff and efficient for pumping. Took a couple pulls to get used to it coming out of water. Love the foot pad surface/texture. The board cover is primo, it alone justifies the increased price of the board compared to similar/comparable models from other brands. Previously rode and still ride a FFB Whip—very easy transition. Highly recommend this board.
This kite surprised me. Not only is it great in light wind it’s awesome to foil with and also it’s great in slightly higher winds. A lot of the time when I hear people talk about this kite they talk about its super light wind capabilities, but this is an awesome medium wind kite too. Thanks to its brainchild construction its opens up in a way that makes it insanely lofty when jumping. I find it’s boosting and second lift very impressive. I found myself jumping much higher than I should have been in these lighter to medium wind sessions.
This is easily one of my favorite kite foil boards. I have been riding this board for a few years now and it has helped me a lot with my kitefoil progression. This board’s greatest strength is its size. Thanks to it it is extremely travel friendly. I never go on a kite trip without it. I wouldn’t recommend this board to a pure beginners, however as soon as you become more comfortable on a kitefoil this board is an excellent investment!
This is easily one of my favorite kite foil boards on the market. I have been riding this board for years now and it helped me boost my progression a lot as an intermediate kitefoiler. This board’s greatest strength is definitely its size. It is extremely travel friendly and I always make sure to take it with me on every kite trip I go on. I wouldn’t recommend this board to pure beginners, but as soon as you are more comfortable on a bigger board the transition to a small board will be very natural. Definitely an amazing foil boards!
I normally ride a 10m core cite to foil which is what I took out with about 10-12 mph wind I was able to get up and going but had to work the kite pretty hard. I then came in and switched to a new 9m NXS. I was amazed at the difference the 9m had great pull and made getting on foil much easier also it felt great in the light wind no stall and easy to re launch. I love my core XR and my lite but I would say Core has done a great job with this new series. I am a fan.
This kite is, in my opinion, the best kite currently on the market. You get all the lift and hang time of a 5-strut with the speed of a 3-strut and the weight of a 1-strut. The biggest differences from V2 to V3 are that the "brrrrrt" noise from the trailing edge is gone (I kind of liked it) and there are now strut hose clips on all 5 struts which is great. It does also boost marginally better than V2. What makes this kite so great is that it just excels at everything. It jumps like crazy, loops incredibly well, drifts well enough to foil or surf, and despite the lightweight construction holds up to abuse remarkably well. The wind range of this kite is incredible too. At the high end, at 140lbs I can hold down the 8m up to around 33mph comfortably, and the low end performance is equally great due to the light weight construction. The only downside I see to this kite is that because it is so lightweight it can have a bit of a front stall tendency in light wind if you don't steer it with purpose. Because of this, I would mostly recommend it to people who are at least at an intermediate level of kiting.
Just off the water from a super fun kite foil session at REAL in the Watermen’s Foil Garden. Southwest wind averaging around 16 mph—great conditions.
I rode the 8m NXS paired with Core Sensor 4S Bar, and Armstrong Foil Kit. The whole package was just plain perfect! I’ve been a big fan of the X-Lite for foiling and reluctant to get off it but upon the recommendation of Mark, the REAL Rental Shop Manager, I gave the NXS a go.
From the launch to landing, the kite was smooth, balanced, and predictable. It down loops perfectly and drifts exceptionally. Everything about the kite and bar felt premium. The power delivery to get up on foil was very smooth. Most of all compared to the X-lite was how quiet the kite was, adding to the peaceful and smooth session in the Watermen’s Foil Garden.
I’m psyched to try this kite in the waves soon and agree that this could be the best new “desert island” kite.
I’m an experienced kiter and foiler and weigh 160lbs.
Awesome Bags!!! I bought 7 of these from Real Water Sports and they are legit. They hold up very well.
I sold my old MA line foils and bought a 990 and a 1190 of the new MKII's and they are AMAZING!!!! I want to pick up a 890 for boat wake surfing and a 1390 for winging soon. These are a huge upgrade from the old MA line.
Had the chance to fly the 9m on foil and twin tip. Very fun and fast 3 strut big air kite with great boost and really good hang time. Water relaunch was great, and the kite felt very controlled in the air. I did notice that this kite has some pretty strong bar pressure, it was not as noticeable when foiling but after about 30 minutes of twin tipping my forearms started to feel it. Overall I would recommend this kite to all ability levels and all kite disciplines. If you are the kind of person who likes bar pressure then this could be a great option for you.
I kite foiled, towed, and proned both the 680 and 740 with the recommended 123 tail, and I was shocked by how fast and responsive they were. I initially thought after kite foiling that they might be hard to pump because of how loose and reactive they are, but found that to not be the case. They still felt very stable and had a great low end. The wing carries speed well, pumps better than I expected (feels like it gains speed with every pump), and still feels controlled in tighter turns.
“Let it roll” might be a bit of an understatement. It rolls rail to rail so well, feels fast, and really comes alive when carving through turns. It has that loose, surfy feel without feeling twitchy or hard to manage. Can't wait to wing it and ride it in bigger surf.
I got to wing the sushi 740 this weekend. Went back to back with the sk8 850. Sushi had quite a bit more turning as expected based on the smaller size. I was surprised how easily this foil got going though. The sk8 was slower with more glide and the sushi was faster rail to rail.
Overall I found the sushi to be very balanced and controlled. Really quick rail to rail and balanced through the turn. It felt like it had decent glide and pretty low stall speed for this size foil.
Can’t wait to try it surf foiling.
Coming off the cfv2 950 and on to the ma mkii 790 and surf 200 tail. Here is what I experienced first session.
1) super stiff / connected. Feels much better, more substantial if you will. That said, I am using more front foot pressure vs the old
2) fast. Much faster!
3) the glide is insane
4) love the way it moves and the carving turns are great. Much more nimble/agile.
5) improved upwind performance. Serious VMG. Even toe side it tracks a tighter angle to the wind
Very happy with it all!
Good lightweight no frills foil bar that really lets your sessions extend without drying your arms and shoulders. Throw is super long. Bar pressure feels a lot lighter compared to other bars which lets you focus more on the foil than the kite. Overall really like this if you’re super dedicated to kitefoiling.
