The Acme Twinzer with Delta-V channels was designed to serve as a basic and dependable shooter for use in good waves, i.e. hollow surf with energy and power.
Inspired by sub-6’ outlines that were ridden at Backdoor in the late 1970s, the Acme features a flat deck + down rail combo, contemporary shortboard rocker, single to double concave with a touch of vee for increased agility in critical surf.
Rail profile is your dependable silver dollar radius at center, crisp tucked under edge to the nose, with a thinner foil in the tail for less volume resistance in the tube.
Fin placement for the Twinzer set is my Golden Ratio fin placement combined with the notes handed down to me from Wil Jobson from our collaboration back in 2005-2006. The leading canard fin helps the main fin perform more efficiently by creating an area of high pressure water flow over the low pressure side of the main fin. Since the main fin is more efficient, we can reduce the overall size of the main fin, resulting in the same amount of drive as a larger twin fin sans canard.
Fin size is smaller than traditional Twinzer templates at 4-3/4” base for the main fin and 2-7/8” for the leading canard, resulting in less wetted surface area for a net increase in speed and release.
The addition of Delta-V channels offers more functional edge without the drag of a trailing fin. They balance the looseness of the Twinzer fin set-up with the torque and drive of channels, providing the opportunity to commit to a solid bottom turn—-the foundation of any maneuver.
Like all my boards, the Acme comes standard with a tapered stringer and 6oz+4oz/6oz glassing schedule for a nice balance of responsiveness and durability.
Important: The Acme is designed for 0 degree canards.
