From North
The fastest, most reactive Orbit, completely re-engineered for riders who demand the ultimate in height, speed, and control. Featuring our very own N-u80 Airframe for a lighter overall kite, with smoother, more responsive steering and bar feedback, more extreme boosting and looping, and a wider range. Its ultra-thin LE/struts, with 6 bridle points and high-velocity bridle lines, result in a faster, more forward-flying kite with a more direct feel and even greater efficiency. The Orbit Ultra has a more forward and cambered profile, stable and consistent in overpowered conditions, and a slightly higher aspect ratio than the Orbit, making it snappier in response and more dynamic in recovery.
- N-u80 Airframe for an exceptionally stable and fast-turning kite
- Thinner LE for increased loop speed and recovery
- Response 6-point bridle system to support the thinner airframe
- High-velocity ultra-thin bridles
- Contoured PTP2 Aerodynamic Profile Transition Panels
- Boost high-lift profile for incredible upwind and boosting performance
- Higher aspect ratio for snappier response and dynamic recovery
Materials: N-U80 Ultra-light Composite Airframe, N-RS3 High Tenacity Triple Ripstop Canopy.
N-u80 Airframe Technology
At its core is N-u80 Airframe Technology, North's uncompromising, highest-performing kite airframe material, developed in collaboration with the North Advanced Textiles Division. N-u80 enables a slimmer, lighter airframe with smoother, more responsive steering and bar feedback, faster loops and recovery, higher boosting and a wider range. The Orbit Ultra is part of the new Ultra Series, North's highest-performance product category.
N-u80 is woven from 100% Ultra PE, a fiber with five times the tensile strength of polyester at the same weight. It features a PET lining and cross-ply Technora reinforcement, letting North build the weave in the 81-85gsm range for a balance between stiffness and weight.
N-u80's 0°/90°/30° construction combines directional stiffness with torsional flexibility: the 0°/90° Ultra PE weave carries the mechanical load, while the 30° cross-ply Technora reinforcement and PET lining sit on the inner side only, stiffening the bias direction and letting the inflated airframe twist progressively through a turn while holding its form under load. This translates into an exceptionally fast-turning kite, while improving UV, tear, fold, and abrasion resistance — helping the kite respond earlier to steering input, turn faster and require less input to initiate a turn while carrying speed through it. The material's higher stiffness-to-weight ratio also lets North reduce leading-edge and strut diameter without losing structural integrity, creating a slimmer, lighter, lower-drag airframe.
Built for High-Performance Big Air
The Orbit Ultra pairs a slightly higher aspect ratio with a Response six-point bridle and ultra-thin high-velocity bridle lines. The higher aspect ratio makes for faster recovery, higher boosting and more hangtime, while the six bridle points support the slimmer leading edge for controlled response and consistent performance, especially in the high end. Thinner, lower-drag primary bridles (attached to the LE) are lighter and lower-drag, helping to compensate for the weight of the additional bridle points, which help support the slimmer LE.
The 2026 Orbit Ultra is fast-flying with more direct turning, vertical lift, and improved low-end. The thinner LE also increases the loop speed, so it can fly forward and catch you quicker. A zigzag-shaped single transition panel (Contoured PTP2) helps reduce spanwise tension in the seams, smooths out the profile shape, and creates a cleaner transition from the leading edge to the canopy. A more forward and cambered profile provides consistent stability across a wide range, especially when overpowered.
The ultra kites are developed in collaboration with North Pro riders and tested in extreme competitive conditions, tuned to the highest-performing kites. The Orbit Ultra was proven at the highest level before its release: at Red Bull King of the Air 2025, Nathalie Lambrecht took the win, while Cohan van Dijk placed third, both riding the then-unreleased Orbit Ultra construction powered by N-u80.
"The Orbit Ultra is super-charged by the N-u80. You can definitely feel the benefits of the lighter weight and the dynamic flexibility of the airframe." — Marc Jacobs
