Launched on the heels of the uber successful …Lost Baby Buggy, the new …Lost Tube Pig is Taj Burrow’s pro model tube shooter. This board is designed and built for heavy tubing waves with added width and thickness forward, plus a carbon reinforcement strip along the bottom. The curve of the outline and rocker fit perfectly to the curves of barreling waves, giving shortboard surfers something reliable and trustworthy to whip out when it starts pumping. If it’s the best tube board Taj Burrow has ever surfed, that’s saying something. Combine that with the epic reviews of the Baby Buggy and you know it’s worth checking out.

What We Like

After trying the ...Lost Baby Buggy and falling in love with it instantly, we knew well ahead of time that this board was going to be a good. 

The Baby Buggy and the Tube Pig differ from previous Taj pro models in that they're not all "chipped out" with little to no volume, paired with radical rockers. These new boards were developed around real world surfing conditions with real world crowds in the lineup. So they have flatter rockers and more strategically placed foam to get the job done. 

The Tube Pig is a step up or "tube shooter" designed off of a shortboard platform. This makes it a great choice for surfers who primarily ride shortboards, who want a board specifically designed to excel in barreling beach and reef breaks.

Compared to a high performance shortboard, the design tweaks are subtle, but added up all together make a noticeable difference in the appearance and ride of the board. A lot of these subtle tweaks came from experience and knowledge gained in developing boards like the Rock Up and Round Up, so it's great to see info learned being passed around the board categories.

So compared to a shortboard.... Slightly wider nose, thicker forward half, more tapered rails, a rounded pintail versus a squash plus designed and built to take a beating. What does this do for performance? More paddle power, outline and rocker curves that fit in round waves, more neutral feel underfoot in fast waves (not too fast or lifty), better performance off front foot when you need it, and an extra dose of board breaking durability so the tube of your life isn't followed up by your board ending up in two pieces.

Riding this board at the same length or a few inches longer than your HPSB, means it's not just for giant waves, but perfectly suited for chest high and above beach and reef breaks with punch. Think wave shape first when deciding to pull out the Tube Pig.

The …Lost Tube Pig is a step-up or better wave tube shooter designed off of a shortboard platform. This means if you’re spending most of your time on high performance shortboards, you will like the feel of the Tube Pig, and will also appreciate the easy transition back and forth from your shorty to the Tube Pig and back. Ride the Tube Pig at the same length, up to a few inches longer than your high performance shortboard. We found that the Tube Pig worked best with the Futures Lost Honeycomb/Carbon 5-fin set.
