REAL Review

The Core GTS5 is not for the weak of heart as it is made for megaloops and hard core freestyle riding.

Tech Specs
  • Premium Core build quality
  • CoreTex Triple Ripstop on all canopy except for LW version that use CoreTex Single Ripstop to save weight
  • ExoTex ultra rigid Dacron leading edge and struts
  • Three strut design
  • CIT Mode leading edge bridle adjustments to change the feel and power of your kite
  • Speed Valve 2 inflation system
What We Like
  • Core build quality is the best in the business. The lead designer overseas production at their factory in Sri Lanka to ensure every kite is made exactly as it was designed.
  • Core kites last twice as long than any other kite in the REAL Lesson Center.
  • The GTS5 is fast, precise and responsive. You feel like you are driving a sports car when you ride the GTS5.
  • Mega looping is super smooth with no kite flutter.
  • No power surge and great slack for unhooked tricks.
  • Great water relaunch for a bridled C kite.
  • Full feedback from the bar all the time so you know where the kite is.
  • The CIT settings allow you to customize the fit and feel of the kite to your riding style. Wakestyle riders are using the Wake CIT setting and the slow turning speed.
What We Don't Like
  • Compared to the XR5, the GTS5 lacks power so you need to size up.
  • If you are moderately powered the jumps are meager. This kite is designed to be ridden fully litt to get max hang time.

Description

You're addicted to life in the fast lane but in a good way. And when you go, you go big! We feel the same, riding our newest GTS. Our 5th gen Universal+ Series allrounder delivers the superpowers unhooked riders demand without messin' up the original formula. We know how badass the GTS4 is. Its signature Future-C powered kiteloops, and unhooked confidence is something we’re proud of. Now, experience a decade of iterative magic with our new and improved GTS5.

Our freestyle ninja won’t let you down until you’re ready to land a perfect kiteloop transition. The GTS5’s power-on-demand looping puts you in total control of the kite’s speed, turn radius, and horizontal drift. Go ahead, test the new GTS5, and find out why our megaloop champs Josh and Steven ride ‘em!

The GTS5 carries over its proven ExoTex 3 Strut Frame, Radical Reaction Tips, and Short Bridles. We optimized the leading edge diameters and tip geometry to improve flight stability especially when looping. We can’t forget to mention our new CIT Modes which customize the GTS5's handling characteristics. In Wave mode, riders dial in compact turns and more depower. Whereas Freestyle mode adds more grunt and bigger turns. The GTS comes out of the bag in Allround mode which provides excellent depower, grunt, and hangtime. Wakestylers may even notice more pop from our larger sizes.

GTS. Fifth gen and still the undisputed megaloop champ. Test one with our wakestyle Bolt or strapless 720 surfboards. Either way, you’ll feel our signature iterative magic at work delivering stability and control in spades.

this kite is perfection! this kite is so so good at boosting, looping, relaunching and the control is amazing! I personally own these kites and am so happy with the purchase, I have a quiver of an 8, 10 and 13.5 and have not had a time where I was too overpowered or hugely underpowered. I also have learned so many new tricks on this kite such as back-roll hand drag and dark slides and also learning how to unhook back and front roll. the versatility on this kite is un mashed by any other brand. the coaches also love this kite and they put hours upon hours on these kites and they are seriously surviving. so If you are wanting to buy a kite that is good for everything get this one!

Versatile - dependable

I’ve only flown this kite in the surf but it exceeded my expectations there. It was responsive and had the perfect amount of bar pressure to always feel the kite. It drifted and looped well, and I came away from the session feeling like I needed to upgrade my quiver to Core kites. The durability and performance of these kites are very hard to beat.

Best loop kite

Best loop kite in the market also works well in the surf. Jumps higher than most competitive kites in this category which allows for bigger loops.

Wish it had a little more grunt to the loop

Super fast super smooth super litt

First things first this is a fast kite! I am a 6'2" 160lb intermediate rider practicing big boosts. My go to kites has been the XR6 and the Naish Pivot, but I decided to give the GTS5 a go. I took it out for the first time on the planet of the apes downwinder. The first 10 minutes I spent getting a feel for this kite. It is super fast, and super smooth. It has a light bar feel which made me feel underpowered at times, but the second I would fly it through the power zone I would feel it. Once I started boosting on it I was impressed by the lift. It will rip you off the water. It took me a couple smaller boosts to get comfortable with really trying to get some air. Once I started pushing the kite I immediately knew I liked the GTS5. It is fast enough that it makes landings super easy. It was the easiest kite I have used for landing big boosts.

I am not doing loops yet, but I can tell by the speed of this kite it lives up to the name of a loop machine. I think I found a new go to kite. Definitely less bar pressure and less hang time than the XR6, but it will still get you litt and give you super soft landings.

First things first, this kite is fast! I am 6'2" 160lbs intermediate rider practicing big boosts. I tried this kite for the first time on a planet of the apes downwinder, the first 10 minutes was spent just trying to get a feel for this kite. I was riding an 8m GTS in about 25mph. I was just at the right power zone, probably could have gone up top the 9m and not been over powered either. T
