from 1617 reviewsAs you see in my first review, I was disappointed. However, I complained to Armstrong and they sent me a new hat. I think that my first one must have been an early production run as there have been several changes. With the new one, the buckle is the same robust one that is on the ball cap - seems much sturdier. They also improved the earflaps.
All in all, great response to my issue and amazing to see it was already fixed. Armstrong is a brand you can count on.
This is probably the highest fun-dollar ratio you could get in a kite package. I get people asking all the time what is the best budget friendly kite out there and the Reedin SuperModel is generally my answer. There is nothing budget about the construction, you just get a really well made kite that is incredibly fun to fly and suited to everyone from the casual lawn mower to people throwing crazy loops. The DreamStick can be a bit of a love it or hate it bar due tot he skinny grip and monobloc un-swivel, but it is undeniably a great bar. The SuperE is hard to beat for the price as well. It doesn't have much in the way of channeling on the bottom so if you are looking for a dedicated big air board then look at the Space Agency. But the SuperE does do everything that average rider would want it to do and the Toasties straps are one of my favorite straps out there right now. Overall, I would recommend this package to anyone getting into the sport, and if you are already a proficient rider looking to upgrade your gear then this would 100% be by choice, especially at the price point.
Exactly as advertised
I reode this board during a Wing session in the ocean. I thought the board had great takeoff and really good touchdown. It felt like when I would touch the board down. It wasn't particularly grabby and I was able to smoothly. Take back off the water. However, I did notice a kind of loud smacking noise when the board would come down compared to other middle length style boards, but other than the noise, no complaints on the touchdown. Board felt really good on foil and the stability to volume ratio felt slightly above average for these Mid length style boards. Would absolutely ride again.
My favorite Kite surfboard hands-down. Like many Kiteboarders when I go kite surfing I'm living out my surfing dreams just attached to a kite and this is the perfect board for that. The thing just works. I'm generally riding it during bigger days in the Outer Banks in the fall and feel like it handles the chest overhead waves really well. I feel like the durability is pretty solid on this board. It's definitely catered more for riding waves than doing air, but I do Arizona quite frequently and only have very moderate heel denting several seasoned into the board being ridden. Awesome wave specific board.
In my opinion this is truly the best all around kite I've ever flown. I feel like most bands all around 3 strut kites usually jump pretty decent, have solid float and maybe even loop well, where all the other fall short however is in the waves. This kite truly drifts and handles the waves WELL. It's a bit grunty when turning the kite agressively for a wave Kite, but is totally manageable once you get the feel for it. There are other jumping specific kites that you definitely get more hang time with, but I actually love jumping with this Kite and did my first properly power to loops with this Kite and felt really good while doing them. If you're not ever riding in the Waves then maybe a different all-around three truck kit would suit your needs, but if you're ever going to ride the kite in the waves, this is by far the best three strut all-around Kite I've ever tried.
Rode this wing in side on conditions here in the OBX, 2-3ft swell 20mph average of wind. I thought the wing did great, held power nicely. I really liked how this wing jumped and felt like I got some extra float compared to other wings. I used the boom after messing around with two separate handles for a second on land. I didn't personally like how small the separate handles were. I have no problem with the two handles on the xps Mkii as i can still hold that wing one handed and powered if i need but this was not the case with the F One handles. But I had a great session on this wing with the boom
I've really been liking this wing and the new construction materials. Definitely feels lighter weight and like it has maybe 10% more power compared to say a XPS or North Nova of the same size. I'm 170lbs and have been able to get on foil with a 6m in 10 knts of wind riding the UHA front wing from armstrong and dont think that would be possible with a standard dacron wing... for me atleast.
Well that was more fun than expected. UHA 970/220 tail on a FoilDrive setup in really small wind chop. Much softer take offs and I never felt it stall, Noticeably longer glide, Pumping was easy and balanced and it turned better than I thought it would. Comparrison foil was my HA1180. The 970 was rather easy to get back under me after a deep hard carve. One thing that I noticed right away other than the ease of controlling lift throughout the entire speed range was it has a little slippery feeling. Probably due to the thinner and smaller tips that resulted in less drag and looser Yaw tracking. Three sessions now in different conditions and it has quickly become my fav for light winds. Can’t wait to see how it does going fast.
Thanks Brenden and Matt. Spot on recommendation.
Just wanted to thank all the guys for helping me with getting the right board my 7’ 10” Score Lord again thanks !!
Awesome board. Perfect length for behind a boat. Very light but stiff and efficient for pumping. Took a couple pulls to get used to it coming out of water. Love the foot pad surface/texture. The board cover is primo, it alone justifies the increased price of the board compared to similar/comparable models from other brands. Previously rode and still ride a FFB Whip—very easy transition. Highly recommend this board.
This kite surprised me. Not only is it great in light wind it’s awesome to foil with and also it’s great in slightly higher winds. A lot of the time when I hear people talk about this kite they talk about its super light wind capabilities, but this is an awesome medium wind kite too. Thanks to its brainchild construction its opens up in a way that makes it insanely lofty when jumping. I find it’s boosting and second lift very impressive. I found myself jumping much higher than I should have been in these lighter to medium wind sessions.
This is easily one of my favorite kite foil boards. I have been riding this board for a few years now and it has helped me a lot with my kitefoil progression. This board’s greatest strength is its size. Thanks to it it is extremely travel friendly. I never go on a kite trip without it. I wouldn’t recommend this board to a pure beginners, however as soon as you become more comfortable on a kitefoil this board is an excellent investment!
