Light-wind kiting is finally fun!

This is actually the main motivation for developing Whispermodel. Not just the low- and high-end performance, but the quick, lively feeling that actually makes it fun to kite in these conditions. No more hard edging in gusts to push the kite to the edge of the window, or waiting for a response when pulling the bar - everything is instantaneous and effortless, with a kite that generates apparent wind so smoothly that you'll understand the name as soon as you fly it.

Get going in the lightest breeze

As soon as WHISPERMODEL stays in the sky, which is around 4-6 knots, you're able to ride. We'd say 4-6 knots require a foilboard, and 6+ knots will get you going on a big twintip. With equally impressive relaunch capabilities, both advanced riders and students are guaranteed to spend more time on the water than ever before!

High-end performance

Just as important, is the exceptional high-end performance you get out of these big kites, meaning you don't have to go back and switch kites when the wind picks up. The amount of de-power you get on the bar-throw, and naturally forward-flying characteristics makes it effortless to hold your edge in stronger winds and shoot into vertical jumps like never before. Imagine 20 knots and you're that one rider that just hangs up in the sky forever, jumping longer and further than anyone else. That's what Whispermodel unlocks for you!

Key Points
  • Insane low-end
    • WHISPERMODEL lets you ride effortlessly in breezes as light as 6 knots. It quickly generates apparent wind and requires very little input to keep riding upwind. You’ll spend more time on the water than ever before.
  • Vertical jumps
    • WHISPERMODEL keeps flying forward in the wind window, making it a lot easier to get vertical take-offs. This allows for much more control in the sky to pull off your tricks and land them easier with less speed. You won’t believe the fun you can have in light wind!
  • Instant reaction
    • Thanks to its PROWELD construction and light weight, WHISPERMODEL reacts instantly to bar input, making the most lively and fun lightwind kite that you can ride.
  • Lightwind relaunch
    • Thanks to its Leading Edge shape, WHISPERMODEL is easy to relaunch by pulling one steering line. In extremely light conditions, it also excels in backward flying relaunches by pulling both steering lines.
  • Easy to ride
    • WHISPERMODEL feels very light on your legs and arms. It doesn’t backstall, making it very easy to ride upwind even in light conditions, and the backlines give precise bar feedback so you always feel where the kite is, making it very intiutive like all Reedin kites.
  • Feel connected
    • WHISPERMODEL feels much smaller than it actually is, giving precise bar feedback so you always feel in control.

Light Air Session

As a beginner I took a lesson here at REAL in light wind and used the Whisper 15M. The first thing I noticed right away (besides the gorgeous colors) was how easy it is to fly. In lighter wind this kite stays in the air really well and doesn't feel like its constantly on the verge of dropping. That alone makes a big difference when you're still learning and don't have perfect kite control yet. Power delivery is smooth and manageable, which made it way less stressful trying to get up and ride in marginal conditions. It generates enough pull without feeling overwhelming so I could focus more on technique instead of just fighting the kite.

What can I say Reedin really outdid their selfs with the Whisper model. I used to not be stoked on a light wind sesh until I put one of these kites in the air for the first time. Super easy launch / relaunch and provides clean power in astonishingly low winds. This kite is really stable and still feels very responsive for a large kite. It really makes those marginal sessions fun!

I Look Forward to Light Air Sessions Now!

Going out in light breeze on a heavy 15m or 17m that drives like a bus is a canon event that everyone experiences at one point or another. Repetitively power diving the kite to get up to speed and set an edge, and waiting a full business day for that huge kite to move across the window is not very much fun at all, and keeps a lot of people from wanting to go out in those conditions again.

That's at least how I felt until I grabbed a 15m Whisper a few days ago in 14kts of breeze; this kite totally changed my outlook on light air sessions! From the get-go, I noticed this kite was very light, and had a lot of power behind it in the small gusts I was cruising through. I'm 195 pounds and used this kite with the North Navigator Pro bar 50-55cm, riding a 137cm F-One Trax. After one good power dive, this kite had the power to get me up to speed and set an edge, and as soon as I created some apparent wind, this kite kept me accelerating and accelerating. It still moves fairly slow being a 15m, but with the wide bar and this kite's construction, it was super manageable. I was able to boost some pretty decent jumps in the light air, and the 5-strut design had me feeling super stable and locked in.

Overall, I now can confidently say I would not kite in any conditions under 17kts on anything else; the Whisper makes those marginal days viably fun! Such a cheat code for getting more sessions in over the course of the year.

The range of this kite blew me away!

I recently used this kite on a lesson here in the Outer Banks with a student who weighed over 200lbs. Despite the 11mph wind, the kite performed exceptionally well. Usually, when coaching, we use kites like the Reach Code Zero or the Slingshot Code V2, which are great for light wind conditions. However, this kite truly stood out. I was surprised by its stability and the amount of power we could generate with minimal wind. Even with lulls of only 8mph, he was able to ride on a 160cm board. It was definitely impressive! The kite also launched well and didn’t do anything unusual. It looks pretty cool too. If you live in a light wind spot, I highly recommend this kite.
