Description

From F-One

The new ROCKET FREE SURF blends glide, control, and maneuverability into a narrow, elongated design, perfect for carving swells, bumps, or choppy waters, with or without a sail. Accessible, responsive, and incredibly fun in flight, it’s the ideal board for prone surf foil, pocket wing, K-Wing, or foil assist.

  • Designed for carving with exceptional control, whether you’re pushing hard on the rail or just cruising with flow
  • Compact and elongated shape for smooth glide and a free surf experience
  • Outstanding control and great maneuverability to connect turns
  • Fast acceleration and easy take-off, even when underpowered
  • Light bamboo construction for a very direct feel

The ROCKET FREE SURF is designed for riders embracing new disciplines like K-Winging and pocket winging, where minimal gear meets pure surf-style riding. Built for ocean swells and carving lines with precision, this board delivers the stability and take-off support you need, while remaining fully dedicated to smooth, controlled carving once on foil.

Inspired by the proven ROCKET SURF PRONE, it features an elongated outline for easy take-offs, optimized volume distribution, and a refined rake angle that creates balanced front-to-back foot pressure. Reduced thickness improves in-flight control, while the straight rocker line ensures smooth acceleration.

Beveled rails minimize drag during touchdowns and allow for more aggressive turns. A flatter, tapered nose and tail enhance maneuverability, improve pumping efficiency, and help prevent unwanted contact with the water during tight carves.

The rear step and kicktail increase pumping amplitude and water flow, while the slightly wider deck improves foot placement and overall stability.

Compared to the FREE DOWNWIND, the FREE SURF is more nimble thanks to its tapered shape, thinner profile, and balanced foot pressure, offering excellent pitch stability even during powerful turns.

Built with durable Bamboo Deck Construction, the board remains lightweight and responsive with a direct foil feel and precise control at speed.

Available in sizes from 5’2 to 6’11 (47L–91L), the ROCKET FREE SURF is ideal for riders seeking a playful, maneuverable foil board with easy take-offs, strong glide, and smooth carving performance in a wide range of conditions.

Specs:
FULL BAMBOO CONSTRUCTION

Bamboo fibers are highly resistant and light. The Full Bamboo construction uses natural properties of bamboo veneers placed between layers of glass fibers to create a strong, durable, light shell for the entire board (deck and bottom).

DOUBLE BAMBOO DECK

An extra layer of bamboo (Double Bamboo Deck) is located in the stance area to make the deck even more resistant to local heel pressures and dings. This results in light, strong and responsive boards to enjoy session after session.

TWIN-TRACKS

The twin-tracks system with a lateral spacing of 90mm is one of the standards in the industry.

Stability meets performance!

Was able to get out on the new Rocket Free Surf Foilboard, 6'5" @79L and immediately noticed more stability compared to the Rocket Mid Length, 5'10"@72L, I have been riding last year. Yes, it does have a bit more length and volume but what I noticed is with the added width it just felt a bit better for water starting. Wind was cranking 25-30 plus so really choppy conditions and having a board with a bit more stability just allowed me to get up quicker and ride longer. Board surfed really well and did not feel big at all. Love this style of board for winging as they feel much smaller when turning rail to rail. Would be a great board for parawinging as well. F-One nailed it with this one.

F-One Wing Foil Session – Seriously impressed!

Just got off the water after a wing foil session at REAL in the Watermen’s Foil Garden. Southwest wind averaging around 23 mph—great conditions.
I rode a full F-One setup: Rocket Free Surf Foilboard (71L), V6 Quad X 4M wing, UHM Carbon 85cm mast (12mm), SK8 HM Carbon 850 front wing, and XS 138 carving tail.
This entire kit blew me away.
The board rode much smaller than its volume suggests, but still had plenty of float to get up and going. Once on foil, it felt even lighter, with minimal swing weight and really nice balance.
The foil setup was fast, responsive, and super efficient—tons of glide with high-end turning performance.
The Quad X wing delivered great power and stability while still feeling responsive. I loved the boom setup, though I did miss having a window—could be a drawback in more crowded spots.
For context, I’m an experienced foiler (~160 lbs), typically riding Armstrong gear in the 45–65L midlength board range, so the 71L was a bit outside my norm. That said, I’d absolutely ride this board again—especially for ocean sessions or parawinging. It offers a super stable platform to get started, then really comes alive once you’re on foil.
It’s been a while since I’ve spent time on other gear, and I’m stoked to see this setup available in the REAL rental shop. I wouldn’t hesitate to grab it again for any session—sound, ocean, surf, or downwind.

Fun Free Surf Foil board !

We recently got these foil boards in the rental shop at real. I took out the 85L board for a session. I was a bit skeptical at first since i usually ride the 100L F-one rocket, but i was surprised how easily it got off the water and on to foil. During the lulls I was able to pump the board once or twice to instantly get back on foil! Super fast smooth and a lot of flow and carves at ease. This board is a lot more narrow then im used to so riding switch was a bit more difficult but after my second or third attempt was able to get on foil and get super long rides. The traction pad is a bit rough so i wore booties to protect the top of my feet, but overall i really enjoyed riding this new model in the shop and highly recommend.
