Cape Hatteras Wave Classic presented by Patagonia Day 1

The 3rd annual Cape Hatteras Wave Classic presented by Patagonia kicked off yesterday with competitor registration, plus an event Welcome Party and Dinner hosted by Watermen’s Bar & Grill. SOULone took the waterfront stage at 6pm and put on an incredible live music show through the evening hours.

Looks like today will be a light wind “Lay Day” allowing competitors to settle into the Cape Hatteras scene with some surfing and skating. September swells have kicked in over the last few weeks, so there’s always a wave to surf somewhere on the island, plus the water and air are still boardshort warm.

The forecast looks to wind up starting Monday/Tuesday with some potential SE winds and then again Wednesday with a healthy NE wind push. We have National Park permits for competition locations from the Tri-Villages all the way south thru Hatteras Village, allowing us to focus in on the best wind/wave combo for the day. You can follow the event status and location at REALwatersports.com/CHWC.

We have three more CHWC event parties with live waterfront music this week and these are all OPEN to the public with Watermen’s Bar & Grill serving dinner and drinks throughout the shows. These include:

Monday: Jeremy Russell 6-9pm

Thursday: Broughton Aycock 6-9pm

Friday: Awards Party with DJ No Philter 6-9pm.

Special THANKS to all our event sponsors for making this event possible. We’re looking forward to a great week on the water here in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.
