Description

From Core

Yes, it’s really that easy to silently glide around in virtually no wind. The freedom is indescribable, touring your lagoon or coast with no regard to wind direction on your SLC – a carbon and aluminum hybrid hydrofoil with options to suit every foiler. With every detail and material choice thoroughly tested, it brings newfound confidence to surf spots and freestyle slicks.

The SLC Foil is light as full carbon. Yet, it's more durable. Carbon’s anisotropic properties make aluminum a better allround choice for the mast. Our mast weighs about the same as carbon and better resists bending. The same properties make carbon the better choice for wings. Our high performance, featherweight wings feature a balanced and comfortable ride with self stabilizing tips.

What should I choose? You have two wing and mast options. Wing choice is a matter of personal preference. Surf foilers will tend to ride the bigger wing while freefoilers and lighter riders will gravitate towards the smaller wing. New foilers and wave riders should consider the 71cm mast where as the 92cm mast is our allrounder.

Features
  • SWEPT WING OUTLINE: Seaweed shedding, self-stabilizing, allround performance.

  • DIHEDRAL STABILIZER: Smooth, balanced gybes.
  • 6063 ALUMINUM: Superior corrosion resistance. Aircraft-grade.

Super impressed! Nice job Core!

Took this foil for a rip the other day, the 1250, and was immediately taken with how smooth and quiet it rode. I have been mostly riding Armstrong and Lift gear and expected to really feel the difference with the aluminum mast and fuselage. Besides it being slightly heavier to carry into the water, the performance was right up there with all the carbon setups I have ridden. Carving and turning felt really smooth and connected. Wouldn't hesitate to ride this in the waves on a lighter wind, smaller day. Paired really nicely with the SLC board. If you were looking to get a great foil that you could learn on and progress to more advanced riding the SLC would be perfect.

Yaw I love this foil!

When riding the new Core foil there are three characteristics that set this foil apart from other foils I have ridden; yaw stability, roll stability and silence.

Yaw stability: In the past couple of years, I have been riding some larger front wings (Moses 633 and 679). Both of these wings exhibit kind of a walking sensation or twist...not desirable. The new Core SLC set up has none of this. I attribute this to the lightweight yet torsionally stiff aluminum mast. Having ridden carbon masts for the last three years I was hesitant to go back to aluminum. Do you remember how heavy the original Liquid Force mast was? These new Core SLC masts are lightweight, stiff and have a beautiful finish. Don't hesitate you wont regret it.

Roll Stability: This foil lights it up when rolling through turns. It is stable, direct and feels like a great carving ski or snowboard. It is easy to tighten or lengthen your turn radius at will, but when you lay the board over and lock it into a turn it is like being on high-speed rails going around a tight bend. Super exhilarating!

Silence: Believe the marketing hype this foil is remarkably quiet. It is also quite fast. Funny thing is you don’t notice at first, because it is so quiet and smooth. Then you look around a realize just how quick you are flying across the water!

All in all, I say great job Core and thank you for my new kit! I am a stoked customer!!!

A kite-foiler's dream come true

CORE didn't reinvent the foil with their new SLC Foil, but they have refined it to be exactly what every kite-foiler needs and desires. A smooth, lightweight, easy to ride foil with impressive performance and quality.

The SLC Foil is so easy to use that within seconds I felt like I had been riding this foil for years already. I was immediately dialed in, performing all my favorite moves without having to think about them, and plenty comfortable to try new tricks too.

Weighing in at 190 lbs, the 1250 kit is perfect for me in lightwind, or when I want to practice moves at slower speeds (which tends to be quite often). It would also be perfect for less experienced or heavier riders. The 1000 kit is great when I have more power, want to ride faster, or slash some waves. It's more maneuverable than the 1250, but it still feels stable and trustworthy. I have the best of both worlds with the SUPER Kit that includes both wings and masts.

One of my favorite features is how the covers also act as part of the travel bag with the integrated Velcro system that CORE implemented. It's a great idea and gives the product a truly premium feel, even when carrying it to and from your session.

The SLC Foil has all the performance that a Pro demands, but the ease of use that a beginner desires. Look no further if you want a foil that can take you to the next level, no matter your skill level. This thing is a dream come true.

Buttery goodness

This foil is buttery smooth to kite around on. I've been using it in a variety of conditions from flat water to ocean to waves and its just crazy smooth to cruise around on.

1250 Wing
Larger size for either big riders over 200lb or for lighter wind foiling. This wing has a ton of lift on it, so its a beast for ultra light wind days. Going back to back with some of my other foils that do OK in light wind, this gets up easier and goes noticeably steeper up wind.

1000 Wing
This one is noticeably faster than the 1250. Good for more powered up kite foiling, and especially better if you plan on using the foil to ride waves while kiting. It will run down the wave faster and more controlled without lifting you out of the wave. Really a super fun all around kite wing.

Construction
Overall a well built foil. All the connection points seem very solid. I'm glad they used a Torx head screw for the bolts which really help you tighten them up well, with a lower chance of them stripping over time. Wings seems very solid and well build while maintaining a low weight. Obviously a well built and designed product.

Overall impression
Love this thing! Its so easy to foil on, but also lets you really rip too. I can see this being great for a brand new foiler all the way to very experienced. I suggest getting the optional foil travel bag kit. Its actually a super smart design and worth the money.

Very Light and Easy to Ride

Core has an exceptional product here with their first entry into the foil market. It is much lighter than most of the other aluminum setups out there and is a lower aspect, easy to ride, light wind machine, which is what I think most of us are looking for when we think about foiling. Pair this with the awesome board that they just came out with and you have a real winner!
