from 2072 reviewsI've had the chance to ride the Armstrong Midlength MKII extensively, from winging in Chicama to parawinging on the Outer Banks, and it's one of the most versatile foil boards I've used.
The biggest improvement over the previous generation is stability. The wider shape and tail make water starts noticeably easier, allowing me to comfortably ride smaller volumes than before while maintaining excellent takeoff performance.
Once on foil, it feels fast, responsive, and capable across a huge range of disciplines, for me, mostly winging and parawinging.
The new X-Form construction is exceptionally light without sacrificing durability, and the reduced swing weight makes the board feel even more playful on the water. Combined with the comfortable, high-grip deck pad, the entire package feels premium.
Armstrong took an already great board and made it better. If you're looking for a true daily driver or one-board quiver, the Midlength MKII is tough to beat.
I have had the chance to ride this board in 65L, 75L, 85L, and 100L sizes and it is exceptional. My only real complaint about the previous generation of Armstrong midlengths was that they could get pretty tippy side to side particularly when water starting. MKII is notably wider meaning that I could size down from a 75L in the old model to a 65L in the MKII with zero issues. The other notable feature is how light they are. The new X-Form construction is crazy light while still maintaining the durability that Armstrong is known for. After a month of abuse in the lesson and rental fleet we have seen slight pressure dings on the decks of the larger boards but no cracks or rail damage to speak of. The EVA foam on the deck is also fantastic. Lots of other brands make great midlength boards and then cheap out on the foam leading to scraped up knees or a dead feeling through the board. The Armstrong foam is very comfortable while maintaining good feel through the board. Also because of the triangle pattern cut into the foam, it feels like the board is gripping your feet rather than your feet gripping the board, which is kind of weird but also kind of nice. Overall I think Armstrong managed to make some great improvements on an already great design and I would recommend this board to any rider.
I rode this board with the Flite Lab Flux 707 front foil...wow. Board was light and responsive and transitioned well between toe side and heel side turns. I'm impressed by the simplicity of the design with everything tucked up into the Flite Box, makes for super easy maintenance and assembly. Power delivery was super smooth and the controller was actually really intuitive compared to other efoil controllers. The Flux 707 foil was right at the limit of my foil ability which is very fun when combined with a light and sporty board like the Ultra L3. I absolutely ripped this thing around for about 30 min on the nano battery and still had around 64% battery left at the end. My biggest take away from efoils in general is that they cost around the same as a jet ski, but jet skis are only fun for around 10 minutes before you are kind of just sitting there. Efoils on the other hand are endless fun, cheaper to maintain, and particularly with the Flite efoils you can always change up the front and tail foil to continually progress and spend more time on foil.
Most inflatable wingboad kind of suck because they are sticky and flexy. This Air Efoil was a big surprise because it is stiff and functions like a normal efoil. The Carbon pro will take off and touch town easier but it is a higher price point that some are not willing to pay.
This efoil has all the premium Fliteboard features in a super safe package. With air board is great for board because it can bump into anything and not get a ding. It is made of really durable material that has reinforcements like a Zodiac boat.
Ride and build quality is great with the Fliteboard Air and this is a great. Was really impressed with how easily it worked and how well it rode.
I am blown away how much fun this board is. I rode it with the jet race impeller as well as the Flux 707 and this thing is FAST!! I was only on setting 10 out of 20 and had to back off the throttle a few times.
This board is surprisingly easy to ride and take off on and there is minimal nose rise even when you are going as fast as you want to go. The jet prop sounds like a jet engine and has smooth progressive power delivery.
This efoil was a big surprise and I'm super stoked on riding the Race.
This efoil is super nice. The safety features are far past any other brand but it is still really easy to operate. The take off and touch down is effortless sue to great construction and board shape. The inline prop to the front wing makes almost no nose rise on take off so it is much easier to get going than other efoils I have used. The deck pad is plush but durable and doesn't chafe you up while you are using it. Two thumbs up for the Flieboard Pro.
This is the best fin for small to medium waves I have ever ridden. Speed of a quad with response of a thruster. I put this is my 6'1 round tail and it works! Gets a bit squirmy when bait overhead, this is when you go to the JJF traditional fin. Truly a fantastic fin. It'll change your surfing!
I have been fortunate to test out this updated Armstrong midlength board and no longer think it should be called a midlength. This is your one board quiver or daily driver and has set the new standard. The old midlength was a shrunk down version of the downwind boards for faster take offs and the Wing and Surf models were also specific to the sport you were doing and relied on what the conditions were. This updated Armstrong board still has fast take offs, is thinner and paddles fast while maintaining more stability. It excels in every aspect of foiling and depending on what size you use can be used for everything. If downwinding, winging or light winds the larger volume sizes are perfect. For parafoil, foil drive, higher winds or prone downwinding or surf foiling the smaller sizes work great! I personally have been recommending the 75L and 65L to most advanced foilers and 100L to beginners. I personally ride the 55L the most but have sized down to the 45L as my daily driver for high winds para/wing/surf and on light wind days using the 65L for para foiling, wing foiling, foil drive and prone downwind runs. I find that the added tail width or squash tail is also helpful on landing airs and easier to ride with foil mast farther back for higher speed and more control on waves. The added bonus as foiling progresses is having no foil drive connection issues without sacrificing construction and durability for a board that you’ll always want to ride. If not sure on which size, I recommend taking a foil lesson to try out and easily swap sizes from our Armstrong Demo Center at REAL Watersports.
I've been using the first version of the Armstrong Midlength board for years now and loving it. I use the 55L for winging on and the 75L for parawing. That first version board was already really good but this next version is genuinely a big step forward in the design. This board has more surface area and volume behind the track box which seems to really help a ton when water starting. A combination of that along with all the other design changes makes it feel much more stable when water starting both powered or especially when underpowered. It also builds forward speed much easier when underpowered. The X-Form construction is top tier as well. This board is crazy light and you really notice it in the bigger sizes. I really feel the difference in the weight savings in the 75L size for parawinging for pumping around to connect waves. The traction pad on the board is super cush; great grip and really comfortable on your feet/knees. The board bag is sturdy, fits well, and offers good protection. Really the whole thing top to bottom is fantastic. 5 Stars Armstrong.
The upgrades to the Armstrong Midlength MKII are really next level. The thinner, shorter, wider shape with a wider tail block makes this board far more stable than the previous version. The MKII takes off the water with less effort than the previous version too.
The new X-Form construction is as light as a performance construction but much stronger than any board I have ever used. I have flown wth this board, left it in the back of my truck, dropped it in the parking lot and still no dings, cracks or chips. Super stiff, lightweight and super strong is unheard of.
I am 170lbs and mostly use the 75L for parawinging and winging. I use to use my midlength for light wind winging but this wing is so responsive that it feels like a much sportier board when you are riding it. I find myself riding this 75L in all conditions and loving it. So easy to take off but still so responsive. For parawing, It has been a lot more stable and the touch downs are still next level.
With the new board construction this board has 100% connectivity with Foil Drive. I love the 55L and the 75L and I am shocked by the ease of use and performance.
I've been using this board for parawinging for the past few weeks and I'm absolutely stoked on it. The wider tail compared to the previous version adds a lot of stability during water starts. The new construction is a great upgrade, with the biggest improvement being the reduced weight. It makes the board feel smaller up and riding due to the reduced swing weight.
Stoked on the X-Form construction and can't wait to see it in other boards in the line up!
I have the small and absolutely love it - Used it for REAL/Armstong Fiji in 2025 and REAL Chicama in 2026, then every day use in my truck - it holds all the hardware I need for multiple foil setups, organized by type in the small pockets, then the bigger pocket holds a torx hand driver and my foildrive tools. Used a small toolbox for years and this is way better for daily use and travel.
Yes, the answer is yes. This is the best freeride parawing on the market. This Pocket Rocket V2 is a solid upgrade from the first version which was already really good. My first impression was that the steering control on this parawing was better than anything else that I've used. It flies very intuitively with direct steering. Its not a 'learned' type of steering but instead it just handles exactly as you would want it to. Low end power to get up on foil is good. This parawing absolutely hammers up wind and with good speed as well. The lines are Ozone's upraded lines now, same as whats on the Power Pack. They are soft in the hands which is essential for when you are running your hands up the bridals to stash, and somehow the lines just don't tangle. The shorter bridals are also really nice to be able to stash easier. If you are someone who needs good upwind performance in your parawing, this is for you. The Power Pack is great if all you care about is going downwind and you really want to prioritize stashability and low end start, but if you need upwind performance and overall freeride performance the Pocket Rocket V2 is unmatched.
I got to try the 4.5m Quest on a recent session and was definitely impressed with this parawing. The wing has very good low end power and especially flying control when you are trying to do your water start. The bar shape is nice as well and having the portion that goes past the A bridal makes for a nice spot to grab if you are overpowered, giving you the ability to keep it controlled without over working your arms. Steering control was great for this large of a wing. The bridals themselves are a bit uncomfortable in the hands I felt. The lines are very thin then the splices up towards the top of the bridals are a bit sharp. Overall though a very good wing that has good low end power, flies well, and stashes well.
