From the Shaper

“Like jumping down from a longboard to a shortboard in your surfing journey, the Locust foil is the next step in your foiling career. Considerably shorter and slightly wider than the Grasshopper model, the lack of swing weight in the Locust makes for easier pumping and more maneuverability. ”

The REAL Deal

The FCD Locust is designed for intermediate to advanced foil surfers that want to have a lot of volume packed into a small size.  They reduced the weight in the nose of this board for faster turns and better pumping.

Tech Specs
  • EPS Epoxy construction
  • Quality Futures Mast Boxes w/ 11" adjustment
  • Carbon Reinforcement Patch over boxes
  • Chined rails to keep your board from sticking on turns
  • Designed for turning and pumping
Weight
  • 4'8 is 7.2lbs
  • 4'4 is 6.8lbs
  • 4'0 is 6.4lbs
What We Like
  • The Locust feels like you are paddling and surfing your shortboard compared to the Grasshopper which has the glide and feel of a longboard.
  • The Locust paddles really well for how short it is.  They pack in a ton of volume so these things float well for how small they are.
  • FCD reduced the weight in the nose of this board by concaving the deck and thinning out the nose.  This reduces the swing weight and makes it pump and turn a lot more crisply.
  • Most of the volume is packed into the tail under the foil where you won't really feel it.
  • The chinned rails will not stick if you touch down on the turns.
  • The big block tail on this board helps push you into waves much easier than other performance foil boards on the market.
Insider Info
  • Most foils ride best if they are positioned in the middle to a cm forward of the middle on the tracks of this board.
  • If you are an advanced surfer and want to get a board you won't grow out of quickly, the 4'8 has a ton of volume and glide for its size and will work for you.  If you are an intermediate surfer getting the FCD Grasshopper is going to give you better glide and make it easier to catch waves.
Why you want the FCD Locust

This board is very easy to ride for how small they are.  It feels very balanced while you are on foil and allows you to focus on your surfing rather than what the board is doing.  The Locust catches waves better than most small boards too. All around this a very reliable shortboard that will have you out there ripping turns and pumping back out for another.
