REAL Review

The cleanest and simplest bar on the market - now more versatile and reliable than ever

The Sensor Bar system is a pioneer in many aspects such as the ultra-direct bar feel, its simplicity and tidiness as well as all its high-end components and workmanship. With the fourth generation, we've elevated the Sensor Bar's versatility, functionality, and safety to a new level.

HIGH V OR LOW V LINE SPLIT
FOR EVEN MORE ADJUSTABILITY TO YOUR PREFERENCES

The Sensor 4 Bar offers the possibility to switch between a low V and a high V (or Y). While all CORE kites are optimized for a high V, a deep V offers advantages for radical action with short lines from 12 meters and can be combined with many kites on the market. We recommend flying all CORE models with a high V.

100% SINGLE FRONTLINE SAFETY (SFS+)
THE UNIVERSAL SAFETY FOR FIXED AND PULLEY BRIDLED KITES

The Sensor 4 Bar has received an IKO tested SFS+ Safety. When the Quick Release is activated, the bar moves immediately to the kite with both backlines and a frontline. The kite blows out without pressure on only one front line (safety line) without any residual pull. This safety is suitable for fixed bridled kites such as the Pace Pro as well as pulley bridled kites (all other CORE kite models). In combination with our 4:1 adjuster, this is one of the safest safety systems on the market.

UNIVERSAL PIGTAILS
PRACTICAL AND UNIVERSAL

Any Sensor Bar connoisseur will notice it immediately. The Sensor 4 Bar has universal pigtails. This not only makes it easier to cut your bar to length, but also connects it to many other kites on the market.

AUTO UNTWIST
AUTO UNTWIST ALWAYS PERFECTLY UNTWISTED LINES

Often copied, but never equaled. The Auto Untwist of the Sensor 4 ensures that you always have perfectly sorted front lines. Thanks to the extremely low-friction and low-wear ceramic ball bearing below the Quick Release, the Sensor 4 Bar always unscrews the lines immediately. Without any action on the part of the rider. The result: optimal power flows in every situation and outstanding durability in salt water and sand.

Best bar that I've ever used

I have had the Sensor 4 bar for over a year and really like it. I've tried a ton of control bars from all brands and this is still my favorite. It feels very light and direct in your hands. The grip is comfortable. The center line swivel feature is so nice, its really hard to use a bar without that feature once you get used to the Sensor bar. Whatever Core is using for the line material is fantastic, it really holds up to a ton of use really well. I've used my bar a lot and give it no special treatment other than the occasional rinse, and my bar still looks nearly new.

Best in class control bar!!

Great Bar! 1.5-Year Review

I've been using this bar for about a year and a half now, with probably 70–100 sessions, and have really enjoyed it. Coming from the Sensor 3, I've noticed a huge improvement with the flag-out system and have enjoyed the ability to fly it with more kites thanks to the universal pigtails and adjustable splitter.

I've heard others have experienced issues with the lines snagging on the splitter adjuster, but I can't say I've had that problem—and others I kite with also haven't had issues. This might be caused by running the lines incorrectly, as they’re more complicated than most bars. I lent my bar to a friend, and he did struggle with the line configuration coming off the bar since it goes up to the splitter and back down. This is the improvement CORE made to the flag-out system, and once you run the lines once, it really isn't that hard. In my opinion, it's worth it to have a reliable safety system.

The quick release is also really nice. I use it with a rope slider, so I'm releasing and engaging it every session. I have had a few instances where it doesn't click as easily as it should, so I need to lift the release to get it to engage. That isn't ideal, but it doesn't happen very often.

Overall, the bar is great! The sleek design, minimal floaters, and well-designed handle feel high quality. I'm really happy with the improvements.

I use this bar a lot but it could still be better

I think this bar has a lot going for it with nice flying lines, seat belt click in, auto un-swivel, and a dummy proof depower with velcro. However, as the previous review pointed out, there are some errors in execution here. The adjustable high or low v split is a great feature that allows you to fly kites from other brands with your CORE bar. In practice however, the thumb screw that was meant to make it easy to switch between settings is bulky and gets caught up on the lines when launching. The seatbelt click in works but it is sticky and I have seen what I would describe as "unacceptable" performance from these quick releases. I have also experienced the the floats coming off while riding but that seems to be more of an exception rather than the norm with it only happening on 1 or 2 of close to 1000 uses and only after the floats have been removed at least once for line tuning. The grips do last a lot longer than the Sensor 3S grips which was my main complaint with that bar but they still don't last as long as grips from other brands, the trade off being that these grips are much more comfortable than others. What makes this bar so disappointing is that the previous version was so good. CORE is know for the highest quality gear and this bar feels like it could have been great but the execution was a bit of a miss. Its a little over complicated with 6 lines going across at some places and the parts that were highlights of the previous version being letdowns this time around. Complaints aside, I still ride this bar all the time with the CORE Pace and XR series kites, and I trust it to perform when I need it to.

Pretty Bad

I have a variety of complaints about this bar. I really like the Core Sensor 3 bar and going into using the S4 I thought I would like it a lot. Unfortunately, I have been let down. The first issue I recognized was the lines would catch on the high y splitter when launching; this was annoying and especially difficult during drift launches to get unstuck. I have also had issues with the kite not fully flagging out when I punched out, resulting in the kite continuing to loop over and over. The seatbelt click in for the chicken loop is not very seatbelty, it is a struggle to click back in. The last time I used the Sensor 4 bar, one of the floats came off mid session and started working its way up the line, quickly escaping my reach, and I had to land my kite to get the float back on. Overall, I am disappointed in the Sensor 4 bar so much so that I will probably look to use other brands in the future.
