from 189 reviewsThe Vandal Pro is a very well made and ultra comfortable helmet. The spin dial adjustment makes it very easy to quickly tighten or loosen. I put it on and forget it's there. I also love the wide range of color options!
The description is in the name. The Ride Engine Lyte Hyperlock Harness is super light, softer and more forgiving than its brother the Elite Carbon Type 2 Hyperlock Harness. While both are great, the SL has fewer pressure points and provides great comfort on longer sessions. I also like the ease of on-the-water adjustments it provides.
As a beginner, I've been cycling through harness types to find the "one for me". Coming from a winter sports background I really enjoyed the snowboard binding style quick adjustment capabilities of the Ride Engine Hyperlock 2. I'm able to keep the kite at 12, lean back and easily crank it a few notches tighter. I'm also able to crank the bottom straps down a little tighter to ease the compression on my ribs. For my body type- 6'4" 165lbs with a long torso- this harness fit great and offers the needed grip and padding that prevents it from sliding up too high.
Can't believe how good this suit is for the price - Feels, fits and surf like a much more expensive suit.
Surfed 3 hours in this suit today in 57deg paired with 3mm booties. Suit is warm, flexible and checks all the boxes of a good wetsuit. Love the ankle strainer - no issue with water filling up around my leash or legs.
The fit is small - I'm typically a MS and in this suit the M is right for me.
I'm 5'8", 160lbs
The bag holds a ton, but you can access everything and it is all super secure. Even when you ratchet down the outside straps you can get into the zipper compartments, and the middle one holds as much as one would want.
Hate to copy Matt's review, but agree with all that he said as well!
Wore this suit for two weeks straight during REAL Chicama 2026. Suit is flexible, warm, durable and ideal for cool water surfing, wing foiling or tow foiling - of which I did all of these in this suit.
No rash at all (anywhere) from all those back to back to back sessions blew me away as well!
Bummed on great suits that only last a season or two - no longer the case with these upgraded Patagonia suits - all the benefits of a great suit, with added longevity.
I use the 150X in light and strong breeze. I’m about 170 with all my gear on. It glides and pumps great. Fairly wide wingspan. If you ride high on the mast, it’s easy to breach the tips but I never lost control. Pairing it with a small tail can make it very fun to carve for a HA. It’s not as fast as the Florence 130 but very similar with better low end lift. It’s a great foil for someone that’s looking to try their first HA. Very stable.
I used this leash for the first time last night after switching from the standard Inviz Mini leash for parawinging, and it’s a huge improvement. The coil wasn’t wrapping around itself or my feet, and best of all, the parawing lines didn’t get caught either.
Just had my first few sessions on this wing and have been super impressed with the pump and glide compared to the standard HA for parawinging/downwinding. The standard HA doesn’t have the drive to punch through the back of bumps, but these UHAs can really catch up with the bumps and keep up with them. I was also very impressed with how smooth the lift profile is, and surprised by how easily it turned despite the wide wingspan. Stoked for the parawing sessions this year with these new wings!
As a beginner the Core Era 152x48 has shortened my learning curve. The size makes getting up and riding super easy and feels stable and controlled. A lot of boards get much wider as you size up. This one doesn't and feels less like a boat than others I've ridden. It's very forgiving, especially when my technique isn't perfect and helps me stay upwind without fighting the board. It also handles chop better than I expected so I feel more comfortable in rougher conditions.
I've used both the robust velcro style footstraps and these foam foot straps and I much prefer these. Once set up properly, after a little trial and error on the water, they are just as secure even without the velcro adjustability. I use them for winging and frequently jump and crank turns in open ocean swell without any issues. They also release easily when switching stance. I like the flex because, when needed, you can stand right on top of the strap and it won't deform for re-entry later since it pops back open.
I weigh 170 lbs wing a 65L Armstrong mid length, 85cm mast, HA580 with the dart 140 tail, and it is a very lively and fast set up. The tail makes hard turns, fast tacks, and race style jibes feel snappy. You can change direction and accelerate really well with little turbulence. I use this tail on downwinders in large rollers, in small shore breaking waves, and for jumping. No complaints. I would recommend the Dart 140 to anyone who feels that there current set up is slowing them down. Riding this tail makes me feel like the only limiting factor on my speed is my willingness to push the gear faster.
Needed a winter suit in the OBX and this thing did the trick. I used it for both wing foiling and surfing. Coldest session winging was low 40'sF water temp with like 10F wind chill. Is it necessary to get in the water when its like that, no, but this suit made it totally doable with a solid pair of gloves and booties to go with. The only thing that ended my session was the wind chill on my face and my gloves were not thick enough. Bottom line, warmest wetsuit I've owned by far. Of course flexibility is more limited but not as bad as I thought.
Honestly, have always despised helmets and never wore one growing up skating, snowboarding, and surfing. Always thought they felt like they got in the way. I've finally came around as I've gotten older and wiser. This thing is comfy and sturdy on your dome. The boa system tightens down uniformly and stays snug even during high speed crashes wing foiling and kiting. I forget I'm even wearing it while out on the water.
As a beginner I took a lesson here at REAL in light wind and used the Whisper 15M. The first thing I noticed right away (besides the gorgeous colors) was how easy it is to fly. In lighter wind this kite stays in the air really well and doesn't feel like its constantly on the verge of dropping. That alone makes a big difference when you're still learning and don't have perfect kite control yet. Power delivery is smooth and manageable, which made it way less stressful trying to get up and ride in marginal conditions. It generates enough pull without feeling overwhelming so I could focus more on technique instead of just fighting the kite.
