What we like:
The BWS team has tested this kite to excel in the waves. That means it needs to have great relaunch, good stability and safety, smooth turning and plenty of power. The Noise definitely has all of those features and more. Most of all, we love the super smooth power output and upwind performance. The bar is also really comfortable and packed with features you need.

What we didn't like:
Some riders reported that this kite is a little slow through the wind window in the bigger sizes (10m and 12m). The kite also pulls about 1m or 2m bigger for each size (the 8m is like a 10m etc.) which can confuse customers and riders.

Why you want the Noise V2:
This kite is awesome and if riding in the waves is your thing, you definitely need look at the Noise. The 6m and the 8m are REAL's favorite sizes and if you are lucky enough to get a session on one of these kites you won’t look back. There are even a growing number of flatwater kiters adding the Noise to their quivers because of the great low end power and huge boosting potential.

Ben Wilson Surf Noise Review By Pete Hardie

The Noise is one of my favorite kites on the market and a big part of my everyday riding quiver. This kite feels really trustworthy in the sky which is really important when riding waves in any location. I have been beating it up and crashing it hard in the waves and this thing relaunches every time!

REALPro Tip: You should size this kite 1m or 2m smaller than your current kite. I am 180lbs and find that the 6m, 8m and 10m is a good quiver and allows me to kite from 15mph to 40mph.

To keep the kite from back stalling, pull the depower line 3-4 inches before unhooking.

Try to keep the smile off your face as you tear upwind faster than any of your friends - the upwind performance on this kite is crazy!

  1. BWS Hits the Nail on the Head....again!

by Tube (Toby Diggens) on August 19, 2012

What a lovely kite! Truly a 21st century answer to getting the surf public to turn heads and realise that onshore winds over 15mph are no longer the realm of onshore punting, but punting 20 times bigger under the power of the very distinct black BWS Noise. If any one is an avid follower of the World Surf Tour you might remember a kite trucking around when Kelly and the Hobgoods were threading barrels at Restaurants (Fiji). Now thats good marketing from Ben Wilson!

I love these kites and personally have the 8&6. As a surfer this is all I need for making more surf sessions. Why is this kite good though? Several reasons.

    1) Simplicity - The kite has one pump, a simple bridal, direct steering and a bar that mimics this. For any wave kiter this is awesome, and for surfers compaining about kiting being too techy, this trumps the negativity.

    2) Bomber construction and Easy Relaunch - These two things are absolutely key to waves. Construction gives you confidence that after your kite has been through the ringer 200yrds offshore you will be able to get it up again. Relaunch makes this easy and again instills confidence in your product. This is what wave kites need and the Noise is spot on!

    Overall:
A kite that you need in your surf quiver. The simplicity of the setup makes this the best wave performer of 2012 for me. This simplicity translates perfectly to the budding beginner who discipline will eventually be waves. GRAB AND GO!!

Tubes Tuning Tip: Undo the set screw on the stopper ball with a fin key and give yourself all the bar throw to truly feel the drift these kites have in sideshore conditions.

  2. Very Suprised !!!

by Pepi Suarez on July 30, 2012

First off Real Team was SUPER , Kevin thanks for the Help ... First session was very good but i was not convinced 100%, know 2nd session I was convinces 200% the kite is a machine ... It is super stable , fast turning , wave machine . i rode 4 2hr sessions with the kite and I wanted more , super smooth , its not a kite that pulls you around instead it de-power is smooth and responsive . I don't have to much space to let you know how AWESOME it is, Thanks again REAL and i cant wait to get the 10m to complete my quiver .

  3. Fantastic

by Chris Stellato on June 26, 2012

Rode the 6m in side on conditions:
It sat in the right spot and the drift was really good. You can put the kite at 12 and you can't under run it.
Sits on the edge of the window really well and charges upwind. Next session in the surf I'm definitely taking it again.
  4. 10m Noise Review

by Jeff Bryson on May 27, 2012

Loved the kite, easy re-launch after multiple wipeouts! my instructor insists on learning kiting on a surfboard strapless - hard as h-ll!
i was riding the 10m in 15 mph winds - plenty of pull for my 200 lb bod!
People at Ann's Beach in FL were borrrowing the kite and checking it out..
