What we like:
The Libre is the board we have been asking LF for since they stopped making the Low Rider back in the day. Everyone needs a light wind board. They are great for cruising and staying upwind on light days.
The Libre has a really flat rocker line. This give you great upwind performance, especially in light winds. They added just enough rocker and flex to the tips to bust chop when the wind starts kicking up. Combo these items with the subtle offset heel side concave and you have a board that is very efficient in light wind but is still very easy to ride.
The Libre is surprisingly light weight. We expected it to be really heavy because of the size but it is much lighter than expect. That makes is feel more responsive under foot and you can actually do some tricks.
This board works killer for beginners too. It is so stable that you can go out with very little power in your kite and still stand up. It is also easy to edge and go upwind with. We are recommending the Libre as a great first board since it will be your staple light wind board once you get better.
Picking the size of Libre has a lot to do with your weight and how light of winds you want to go in. We recommend 180 lbs and smaller go for the 150cm and 180 lbs and larger go for the 160cm.
The Libre will struggle in really heavy chop. Any super flat board with super wide tips will be bouncy in heavy chop conditions. The Libre cuts the chop well, but there is a limit to how much chop it can take.
The new LF Pro pads are really comfortable. They fit a wide range of feet with and with out booties too. They have this really plush terry cloth feeling strap that feels like putting your feet in a bathrobe.
Why you want the Libre:
This should be everyone's first board, so get it if you are buying your first kiteboard that you don't want to outgrow. If you want an affordable high quality light wind board then you should seriously consider the Libre.
The Libre is a dedicated light wind twin tip that has just enough bottom shape and rocker to make it work for a wide range of riders.
Includes board & fins.
Liquid Force's Description:
Free yourself from the light wind doldrums! If you think about kiting at the first sign of the leaves moving on trees, the slight flutter of a flag or the hint of breeze at your local sensor, the Libre will make your ambition of being the first on the water a reality. Be the only one kiting when the wind is simply not windy! The engineering of the board is 100% dedicated to light wind. From the low entry rocker to the soft manipulative flex, the efficient side cut shape will get you on the water faster and more often.
