The FCD Blunt is a modern kitesurf board that is designed for quick and snappy turns on the small to medium waves. This board uses premium materials and has a ride that is smooth and predictable. Size the Blunt 6-8" smaller than your standard pointy nose kite surfboard.
The Blunt rips turns. The board just wants to turn. In small to medium size waves that are punchy or flat, this board slices and dices. When the board goes on rail it accelerates through the turn with no bounce or hesitation.
Unlike any of the other blunt nose boards on the market, this one does not pearl when you come off of a top turn. You can point the board straight down into the pit and it pops out every time. Most other chopped off boards have the nose stick, ...not the Blunt.
The quality of materials and craftsmanship is second to none. The iFoam blank has this crazy blend of vibration absorption and liveliness. It feels so smooth and damp (a good thing) on the water but also can spring out of turns. The fiberglass schedule is 4oz - 6oz - 6oz deck and 6oz - 6oz bottom. For reference, a standard surfboard (not FCD) is 4oz - 4oz deck and single 4oz bottom. High end materials do make a difference and you can feel it under your feet.
When you're cruising back and forth, the Blunt handles chop well and is balanced. We found that it likes a little more front foot pressure as the tail is really thin. Once you start putting pressure on the back foot it wants to make a turn and come around.
Sizing the Blunt can be tricky. Generally speaking you want the board 6-8" shorter than a pointy nose kitesurfing board. If you normally ride a 5'10 you will drop down to a 5'2.
The feel of the Marko iFoam is second to none. Once you ride a board with this foam you will be addicted to it because all the water vibration is gone.
This board is a killer flat water and wave riding machine. You can do tricks in the flats and rip the backs out of waves. As with all products coming out of the FCD/Patagonia campus, you get what you pay for.
