What we like:

The Naish Torque BTB (Below the Bar) was the first below the bar depower system to market ten years ago. It worked then and now it works even better. The industry followed them into the BTB market, but no other brand could figure out how to make a system that sheeted on the fly. The BTB bars got a bad rap, but that didn’t mean that the Naish BTB ever stopped working since it worked well from day one. Naish has an above the bar depower that works great if you like to have a little more leverage on deposed and a shorter throw. If you were to ask Robby, he would tell you that above bar depowed is going backwards ten years.

How do they make it work? We aren’t really sure, but it sheets in and out with very little effort despite having the depower line being close your waist. With any other BTB system, you have to stop, let the bar out and then sheet, but with the Naish, you can sheet on the fly. The BTB is also much easier to reach the depower by having it at the chicken loop. With the depower below the bar you will get 6” to 1’ more throw on your bar than any other bar on the market.

The adjustable bar ends are slick and simple to pull out and switch the effective bar size on the fly. There are tuning knots in the bar end that allow you to easily adjust the line lengths if they stretch.

Insider Info:

This bar has so much throw that shorter people might want to buy the accessories stopper ball called the Cruise Control. If you have shorter arms and you let go of the bar, you will need to climb up the center chicken line to get the bar back unless you have the stopper set so you can reach the bar.

Naish moved the swivel to untwist the center lines to below the bar. It is amazing that they got the depower and the swivel packed in below the bar, but this adds a touch of extra distance between you and the bar.

The large floats that are connected to the bar end give you plenty of protection if you hit yourself with your bar. Most importantly they keep your bar floating during a self rescue. They are pretty stiff and make it harder to wrap up your bar the first couple times.

Why you want the Naish BTB Control Bar:

If you value what Robby Naish has to say, then stick with the only below bar depower system that works.
