REAL Review

The 2018 Naish Go-To was designed as the one board that fits all kiters. The shape of the Go-To is the closest thing to a traditional surfboard with a full rail, thruster tri fin set up and a subtle single concave.

5’9 - 170 lbs or larger.

-Inserts for foot straps. Straps are not included.

Naish wanted a board that wasn’t for charging pumping surf(Global) or ripping monster airs(Skater) but for your Average Joe kiter, so they made the Go-To. With more volume, this board rides more on top of the water than setting deep into the water like the other thinner railed boards in the Naish line up. The net result is that the Go-To is user-friendly, has drive in underpowered conditions, and it feels very stable under your feet. This board is the Go-To choice for most kiters that are in the market for a kite surfboard.

On the wave face you can sheet out and surf the wave as the Go-To has a lot of glide to it. If you are in more powered conditions then you can size this board down and rip it in the pocket. Most people riding the Go-To have a blend of flat water and small waves. Despite being designed for the small stuff, Robby shared a story about how well the 5’6 did at head high Skeleton Bay in Namibia.

Insider Info:

The Go-To has no front deck pad. That way you can use wax or get a pad and stick it on there. It also has inserts so you can ride it strapped or strapless.

Compared to the Global or the Skater, the Go-To feels slow. It is not slow but we tested the entire line back to back and the Go-To was the slowest board in the line up. The Global and the Skater were designed to be ridden powered up and the Go-To is made for more recreational speeds and depowered wave riding.

Naish uses a proprietary fin box that fits FCS Classic double tab fins. When questioned why they use their fin boxes over Futures or FCS2, they said that the Naish fin boxes were much stronger and the fin boxes would not break out of the board if you hit bottom. Finding accessory FCS Classic fins is not that easy any more so you are kind of limited to the Naish fins if you don’t have big surf shop in your backyard. The stock Naish fins are really good glass/honeycomb construction so you want replacements unless you loose a fin.

Who is the Naish Go-To for:

The Go-To is the best choice for the every day kiteboard. It works in a ton of conditions, rips waves, has a true surfy feel and is easy to learn on.
