REAL Review

The 2018 Naish Alana was specifically designed for a lighter weight female rider. They did not “shrink it and pink it” as many brands do but designed this specifically for a light weight rider.

Tech Specs:

-Sizes: 132x38cm, 136x39cm
-6” Insert Spacing
-Soft Flex
-Medium Freeride Rocker
-Channeled tip and tail
-Flex Torsion Control
-Wood Core
-Includes fins and handle. Straps sold separately.

What we like:

The first thing we noticed with the Alana is the buttery smooth ride. The Alana is narrower than any twin tip on the line so it is easy to edge and go upwind.

The soft flex and channeled tips helps it bust through chop and track as it is going over waves. This makes it very forgiving as well. Naish used their Torsion Control X in the center of the board to make that part of the board stiffer and to keep it from being bouncy in rough conditions.

The medium rocker had much more drive upwind than we were expecting.

Why you want the Naish Alana:

We were very happy to hear that they designed and tested this board with women riders. The test team ranged in ability levels and Naish was able to design a great board for women who kite. The net result is that all of our female testers liked this board over any other Naish boards tested.

Description

The 2018 Naish Alana was specifically designed for a lighter weight female rider. They did not “shrink it and pink it” as many brands do but designed this specifically for a light weight rider.

Naish's Description:
The Alana is designed for women who want all-around freeride, freestyle and TT waveriding versatility within a single board. Its outline, flex and dimensions have all been fine-tuned to respond to lighter degrees of rider input and lower loads.

A medium rocker profile provides a forgiving ride and lively feel, while its supreme wood core delivers a soft, natural flex with a high strength-to-weight ratio. This, combined with its 3D bottom shaping, provides superior grip, forgiving landings and directional stability in a wide range of conditions.

In addition, sizes on the Alana have been modified to accommodate a wider range of riders.

•Medium Flex = Dynamic, all-around handling
•Freeride Rocker = Powerful + fast riding + aggressive pop + lively feel
•FTC 2.0 (Flex Torsion Control) = Optimized stiffness in both the axial & torsional axis + superior control
•10° Angle Fin Platform = Superior grip + upwind performance
