What we like:
The Moon Patrol is a blast to ride. Everyone that has tested this board went from, "Oh that is a cool idea." before they rode it to, "I have to buy one of these things." after they rode it. If nothing else, the Moon Patrol is a ton of fun to kite.
If you get the directional look of this board out of your head, you forget you are riding a directional. It rides equally as well with the nose forward as the tail. No extra spray or digging the rail when you are riding it backwards.
The board has a really smooth ride. It eats chop. All testers could not believe how smooth the ride was. We think that is because of the beveled rail and medium flex on this board.
On the waves, the Moon Patrol feels like you are carving deep powder turns. Compared to a surfboard, you can crank tighter turns and have more control on the wave face.
Start out with the stance centered and duck just like you would ride a twin tip. If you advance into the surf with the Moon Patrol it works great stock set up or you can super charge it by adjusting the stance and fins. We put the big fins on the back and moved the stance 1" back towards the tail.
We tested the Moon Patrol with boots in some big surf too. It gave us tons of power and control. On the huge days it was nice to rip big turns, never loose your board and boost over the big sets.
There is a lot of confusion between what one is better, the Moon Patrol or the Space Craft. Both are awesome but just a little different. We feel that the Moon Patrol is more surf orientated due to the fuller more rockered out nose. Get the Moon if you know you will be riding this in the surf and get the Space Craft if you are looking for a twin tip with a twist.
Why you want the Moon Patrol:
We thought that this board was a gimmick and completely impractical until we rode it. Now it is a necessity in the quiver.
The Moon Patrol was designed as a surf specific twin tip that turned into being everyone's favorite all around twin tip. Ride this board in flat water or the surf and you are guaranteed a smile.
Includes board & fins.
Liquid Force's Description:
Sometimes full circle means a better circle. The Moon Patrol is a blast and ode to the past. Hints of mutant board technology blended with modern directional snowboarding inspiration have brought to life this futuristic board shape that will take you to the next dimension of the kiteboarding universe. The Moon Patrol is a directional water transport machine that is not bound by a singular one-way traffic sign. A slight tapered tail in the outline, and a set back from centered stance will allow you to slash your way across all liquid water surfaces. The rocker line is asymmetrical, with slightly more nose entry rocker
than the tail, to absorb monster chop and towering white water. Don’t let this scare you from blasting off in just one direction. T.F.R.(Tips, Front, Rear) technology allows the board to be ridden with ease, either off the nose or the tail. Unlike its mutant predecessors, the bottom contour features a single concave through the tips, directing water though the fins for a smooth ride and efficient upwind projection. The Moon Patrol comes with 6 fins; 4 x 4cm and 2 x 5cm to allow the rider to step up the rear fin setup for more hold and drive.
