What We Like
The Naish Dash follows a long line of 3 strut kites built by Naish for freeride sessions and unhooking. While the Naish Park name is gone, the Naish Dash is reborn from the ashes. The Dash is a higher aspect than previous models, this change puts this kite far forward in the wind window for superior boosting and upwind performance.
We are stoked on how stable the Dash is when unhooked. There is minimal surge in power and the kite stays parked exceptionally well for riding sliders, kickers, and load and pop tricks. The staff here at REAL loves to ride the park and you will see a Dash in the sky for most sessions in the REAL Slider Park. We’ve tested on park features in all sizes from 12 to 7 and have found it to be top of the class regardless of what size you’re flying. If loops are your thing you can expect the Dash to offer consistent pull through the entire loop, then it climbs quickly to catch you at the top of the wind window. The high aspect C shape makes this kite fly very quickly through the sky enabling you to boost higher and gives you more confidence to pull the trigger on a big loop.
While all of these traits make this kite a great choice for advanced riders, what about the riders just getting the hang of kiting? We wouldn’t recommend the Dash on your first session, but beginner riders planning on a fast learning curve with a desire to go big will appreciate the Dash’s easy relaunch and direct feel.
Despite having longer bridles than most similar kites on the market, the Dash rolled with ease and passed the tomahawk test with flying colors. One problem we did encounter was a surprise tomahawk. If you are sheeted all the way out with no depower pulled it is possible to make the Dash Hindenberg, while this is frustrating we never had it happen with some depower pulled or when we had a hand on the bar.
Insider Info
The Naish Dash turns surprisingly fast considering the kites C shape, it turns on a narrow axis and if you fly it aggressively can almost make the kite pivot around its center axis. This makes for an incredibly fun kite to fly with good performance in the surf. Its relaunch is too slow to be considered a true surf kite but if this is your only kite and you also like to chase waves the Dash won’t let you down.
The kite turns quickly and likes to be actively flown. Once you have the speed you need, you can set an edge and go but this is a kite that builds more power with turning over sheeting in and out.
Who is the Naish Dash for?
The Naish Dash is a great kite for riders looking for excellent load and pop, high jumps and powerful loops. This is also a great option for riders who like to feel in control of their kite at all times and need to know exactly where their kite is pulling from without taking their eyes off of the water.
