The “Hybrid” category of shortboards has exploded over the last two seasons. These wider, shorter designs have really opened up small to medium wave performance surfing and allowed everyone to drop length while increasing wave count. Xanadu was one of the pioneers of this category over 5 years ago with the super popular Xanadu Rocky Model.
The new Xanadu Gipos blazes trails again and leads the way into 2011 with curvy wide outline and thin profile. Most boards in this category catch waves super easily but are difficult to surf at higher speeds. The Gipos has a wide outline and flatter entry rocker to increase wave count, but then pulls in at the tail and has a fairly thin profile throughout to keep the board in the water while pulling the hardest G-force turns.
A great board for 1-6ft surf, Ultraflex construction guarantees years of performance and durability.
The Gipos has a very wide outline but is still ultra responsive, it keeps its speed, floats well and will still let you bang off big turns.
This board is a very sparky contemporary fish.
