REAL is proud to announce our travel partnership with Las Palmeras Surf Camp in Salina Cruz, Oaxaca, Mexico.
Las Palmeras is home to some of the best sand bottom right hand point breaks in the world. Travel from North America and abroad to Las Palmeras is relatively easy and fast. After visiting Las Palmeras recently, an off duty Mentawais boat captain commented, “…if you live on this side of the world, there’s no reason to travel further than Las Palmeras. The waves are absolutely insane!”
REAL was initially turned on to Las Palmeras by pro surfer Josh Mulcoy. Josh spends quite a bit of time at Las Palmeras pulling into some of his best waves every year. David Ramirez is onsite year round running the camp and holding down he position of Head Surf Guide.
Here’s what Josh Mulcoy had to say about Las Palmeras and the Salina Cruz area:
“I have been traveling to the Salina Cruz area for the last 10 years, going several times a year and truly, there is no place I would rather be when the conditions are right. The Salina Cruz area has something for everyone. There are a great variety of waves, from some one learning to surf to someone who is serious about getting long tubes. One of the best attributes of the area is the array of points. As you move up the coast, the points get hollower and more powerful. There is also a fun beach break in the area, and due to constant exploration, we are finding new spots to the north and south. If you like right hand sand-bottomed points that peel for hundreds of yards, this area is for you.” – Josh Mulcoy
The house features air conditioning in the bedrooms, hot water, high speed Internet with WiFi, cable television and all of the comforts of a modern home. There is a large dining area that connects to the kitchen, as well as the living room, which has a bar and a big screen television. There is a covered carport where you can stash your equipment, as well as racks inside the house for surfboards. The house has an insane view of one of the beachbreaks and is subject to a refreshing ocean breeze in the evenings. People really enjoy watching the sun set over Punta Conejo.
