Flatter entry rocker, wider nose, bump wing tail thruster. Sound familiar? The Stretch Rat Skate created an entirely new category of high performance shortboards and still leads the way in small to medium wave surfing. This board can be surfed a few inches shorter than your standard high performance shortboard (not as short as a Stretch Pug) due to the wider nose and mid widths and generous tail dimensions. The larger sizes are incredible bigger guy or winter boards when you’re suited up to the gills in neoprene. Now available in polyester construction, so you save about $200!

The Rat Skate is designed to be a small wave performer. Back when riding boards short and wide wasn't considered cool, this board was always called upon and has since become Ratboy's "go-to" board for any wave type slightly overhead and below. It's balanced template served as the conceptual basis for the outline of the Fletcher Four-Fin.

Outline
The Ratskate has the wide point exact center. This is a balanced template with a full nose and full tail. The subtle bump wing behind the fins brings in the outline under your back foot.

Rocker
Continuous rocker broadens the "sweet spot", increases turning ability and adds a "predictable" feel under your feet.

Rails
Medium-full 50/50 rail that holds the wave face no matter where you lean the board. The hard edge behind the front fins give a crisp release.

Bottom
Slight vee in the nose to a 5/16" deep single concave between your feet. Slight vee out the tail.
