I ordered this board to be surfed in mostly super crumbly, slow waves, but be able to handle bigger punchier surf just as well. I have taken this board out 3-4 times and have loved every single session. I surfed it as a thruster, and liked it, then switched to quad and absolutely loved it. I've never surfed quad before, so it took some getting used to, but once I got the hang of how to surf it, the board was so fast and loose and fun. I love big powerful carves and less of the flicky stuff, and this board can handle that. It doesn't have much of a retro-ish fish feel that the name implies, and is more like a short fat shortboard than a fish. Definetely made for hp surfing. This thing paddles really well, and catches waves with ease. Rocker is pretty flat to contribute to that, but the nose also has a little flip, which allows you to fit in places you didn't think this board would fit in.
Overall, this is my everyday board, and unless it gets overhead and fast and punchy, this board will work perfectly. And, since I've had the board, I haven't got any good waves, so that's the reason I can't say if this board will go in those conditions or not, but I really think this board will work in 1-8 foot as long as it's not too fast or hollow.
