These boards feature a hand shaped 2.5lb density Marko I-Foam blank with a bamboo stringer. I-Foam is incredibly strong and has an addictively smooth feel on the water. I-Foam is also waterproof so you don't have to worry about the board absorbing water if dinged. The boards are glassed and vacuum bagged with epoxy resin, then painted with a nano-pebble pro finish. This makes them even faster and smoother on the water. Pro Surfer Matt Keenan said this is the smoothest board he has ever surfed. That’s saying a lot from a pro surfer who gets over 30 new boards a year for the last 20 years of his life!
With the likes of Ian Alldredge, Ben Wilson and Matt Keenan all swearing by this shape and construction technology, you know it has to be something special. Ben used a 6’1 I-Foam Rawson Boombox to conquer giant Cloudbreak in Fiji. Ian and Matt just returned from Puerto Rico where they were absolutely killing it, both surfing and kitesurfing these boards. The video footage on this page has some unbelievable clips on these boards.
If you’re looking at this board from a pure surfing perspective, the Rawson Boombox is a modern, all around performance shortboard style board that excels in a wide range of conditions. I-Foam EVF construction with nano-pebble pro finish guarantees a silky smooth ride that will last significantly longer than standard PU/Poly boards. I-Foam EVF construction has a similar “damp” feel of PU boards but with a much livelier spring out of turns. They also hold their shape and resist going “flat” much longer than PU. The buckling and breaking strength is also significantly stronger. Welcome to modern technology...
