The Patagonia R2 is WARM.
The R2 feels like a really hot 3/2. The Merino wool lining is not a gimmick. It doesn't itch or stink like everyone thought it would. It just keeps you warm in the water. The craftsmanship of the R2 is top end and Patagonia backs it up with their Iron Clad Guarantee that will buy your suit back if you don't think it performs the way that it should.
Patagonia R2 Tech Specs:
• Back Zip with double seal barrier
• Merino internal lining
• Super glued and blind stitched seams
• Ironclad Guarantee
What we like:
Patagonia makes strong wetsuits that are built to last. You have to pay a bit more on the front end, but you get it back over time. Their Iron Clad Guarantee is unbelievable too since it gives you confidence to invest in a top end product like the R2. The combo of the Merino wool and full back zip make the R2 the easiest wetsuit to get on. You can just slide into it.
What we didn't like:
The back zip can leak if you don't close it up properly.
Why you want the Patagonia R2:
Patagonia spends the time, money and effort to make top quality products and it is no different with their wetsuits.
Patagonia wetsuits are decidedly warmer than standard nylon-lined suits. But that’s not all. They also wear longer, dry faster and are more environmentally conscious than other suits.
The R2 is best suited for water temps from 55-65° F / 12-18° C
Made for cool water with 2mm neoprene lined with chlorine-free merino wool.
The new R2 has been redesigned with no smooth skin rubber. This adds to the durability and stretch of the ultimate cold weather wetsuit.
All Patagonia wetsuits are covered by the Patagonia Ironclad Guarantee.
