The recycled polyester lining keeps you warm and keeps the Patagonia R1 feeling light.
Patagonia has a massive lab of scientists that surf, kite, tow, and fish in their suits. These guys are always pushing the limits on what new innovations they can bring into the wetsuit arena. They added the R1 wetsuit to the line so they had a flexible cool water suit that will last a really long time.
Comparable wetsuits to the Patagonia R1 are the Billabong Solution SG5 302
, the Rip Curl Flash Bomb 3/2
and the O'Neill Psycho 1 3/2
Patagonia R1 Tech Specs:

• Recycled polyester internal lining
• Super glued and blind stitched seams
• Ironclad Guarantee
What we like:
Patagonia is making products to last a long time. They back it with their Iron Clad Guarantee, so you can get your money back if you don't like it or if the suit fails when it isn't supposed to. That is sick to have a guarantee like that on a wetsuit.
What we don't like:
The back zip leaks a little bit which is not that big of a deal on a wetsuit made for cool temps.
Why you want a Patagonia R1:
You get what you pay for. Spend a little more on the front end for the R1, and you will get your money back since you will have this wetsuit for at least 5 years.
The Patagonia R1 for cool water. This wetsuit has an easy entry back zip and plenty of flexibility for those long sessions.
Made for Cool water with 2mm neoprene lined with recycled polyester.
Patagonia wetsuits are decidedly warmer than standard nylon-lined suits. But that’s not all. They also wear longer, dry faster and are more environmentally conscious than other suits.
The R1 is best suited for water temps from 65-75° F / 18-32° C.
Made for cool water with 2mm neoprene lined with recycled polyester.
With their strategically placed panels and seams for more paddling comfort, anatomically engineered knee pads, wrist cuffs and knees made from durable and stretchy Supertex, Patagonia also made a crescent-shaped neoprene panel along the closure for a better seal and easier zip up.
All Patagonia wetsuits are covered by the Patagonia Ironclad Guarantee.
