“Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. It comes into us at midnight very clean. It’s perfect when it arrives and puts itself in our hands. It hopes we’ve learned something from yesterday.” -John Wayne

REAL Kiteboarding is proud to announce our new partnership with the John Wayne Cancer Foundation. While the “JWCF” focuses on several different types of cancer, the main thrust of this partnership is the education of the world’s youth about the dangers of the different types of skin cancers and what can be done to easily prevent them.

Through the mediums of REAL Kiteboarding, REAL Lesson Center, and REAL Slider Park, the John Wayne Cancer Foundation will educate the participants and spectators of our sport, through grass roots promotions, athlete involvement and event organization. JWCF will team up with REAL to bring heightened awareness to this threat and help bring our nation’s youth up to speed with respect to knowledge and prevention.

“We think this is a great partnership. When I was traveling in Australia in the mid-90’s, they were already 10 years ahead of us in respect to educating their youth about skin cancer. If kids didn’t show up to school wearing a wide brimmed hat, they got sent home. We are talking about 5 year olds going to kindergarten. No hat, no school. When you learn from that age, you get the picture early. It’s not about staying out of the sun entirely, it’s about taking the right precautions like sunscreen, a hat and a board shirt. That alone will make a huge difference. That’s what we need to accomplish with this partnership” – Trip Forman Co-Founder REAL Kiteboarding

The partnership between REAL and the John Wayne Cancer Foundation kicked off with the JWCF sponsorship of a 48 foot, 7 foot high A-Frame slider in the REAL Slider PARK. JWCF will also have a promotional booth at the upcoming Fly To…Red Bull King of the Air event July 22-24 hosted at the REAL Lesson Center in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. They will be giving away free sunscreen samples, JWCF tattoos and also selling JWCF T-Shirts, all benefits going towards the foundation and raising the bar on education and prevention of skin cancers.

This partnership looks to be a healthy relationship creatively tying the sport of kiteboarding into mainstream issues for a good cause. The team at REAL is very excited to be able help with such an important cause, especially since it can be done both every day in our sport and also promoted worldwide through our website www.REALwatersports.com, the REAL Lesson Center and the REAL Slider Park.
