Triple-S Invitational

Day six of the 2008 Triple-S Invitational saw the competitors meeting under the Red Bull tent at 10 am then heading to “The South Side” of Hatteras Island for a Wave Kiting Session, across Highway 12 from the Ferry Docks.

At the riders meeting the decision was made to run the Slicks portion of Surfs, Slicks and Sliders. The Venue … the ever popular and infamous Planet of the Apes downwinder, 8 miles of downwind insanity!

After a frontal boundary pulled through the region winds switch to the North-East, filling in 15-20 knots. The Triple-S Invitational with it’s mobile format headed south to Kite Point to take advantage of the clean wind conditions and flat water riding the inside pool.

The Second Day of the Triple-S went off on cue Sunday June 1st with South West winds 15-25 knots all day. Riders hit the water early immediately following the 10am riders meeting for the morning South West session in The Slick. Again the entire REAL Slider Park was set up including the Red Bull Fun Box, the John Wayne Cancer Foundation Doublewide, the REAL Kicker, and the NEW REAL Butter Box.

The First Day of the Event started off Saturday May 31st with all of the riders arriving into town and checking into their luxurious waterfront accommodations fully equipped with pools and hot tubs. This is one of the things the riders look most forward too, as many times the riders travel around the world they are used to sleeping in cars or the floor of some cramped room.

And the winner is....

The 2008 Triple-S Invitational is an international "invite only" freeride kiteboarding event. Beyond the original 24 Triple-S invites sent out to riders around the world, there is one remaining space available for the "Triple-S Wildcard" Winner. The Triple-S DVD is an ACTION DVD based on the riding and footage accumulated during the 2006 Triple-S Invitational here in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.
