We took a long bumpy road today out on the face of Mars. Sick scenery. Very drastic rock outcroppings plummet into the Pacific Ocean. There wasn’t supposed to be much in the way of surf, so we thought that it would be a perfect opportunity to make “surfboards mandatory”.

Where we are in Peru isn't exactly close to anything, but the travel was worth it with the first session! The REAL Peru group arrived in northern Peru with all of our gear, which was a miracle on its own. Out front of the resort there was no breeze, so the call to pack your 8m and 10m to go ride a place that was 20 minutes south, sounded a little off. We all followed the instructions, screwed in all the fins and straps and started our first journey….

Ahhh, living the life! That’s all we can say and boy did it look cold up north! The breeze kept blowing and the waves kept rolling in. We were able to roll out the entire 2010 kiteboarding gear line up from Slingshot, Naish, Best and Liquid Force, for all the clients to demo. We also had some great waves, some better for noseriding and standup, while others were better for dropping in and getting shacked.

Well, we’ve been off the grid for a few days. Life without cell phones and internet is really good, especially when you fill that time with sessions! With life this simple, and since we’re offshore with no police, we live by a simple set of 5 rules:

REAL BVI Week #2 will go down as the “Watermen’s Week”, with wind nearly every day, 4 days of quality surf and 7 days of world class standup paddleboarding. Mix in the unbelievable blue waters of the BVI’s, with equal parts first class yachts and crews from The Moorings, and you have a recipe another great week on the water!

Four words to start off this report sound no better than “7 days of wind”. Right out of the blocks, kiters were powered on 12m-15m kites and it only got windier throughout the week. By mid week, riders were using 9m-12m kites and the 8m’s even came out for a session or two.
