Slingshot Rally : REAL Pro Review by Toby Diggens
The best thing that I found about the Rally was the silky smooth power delivery. It felt so stable in the sky and for anyone who is looking for a kite to start on or for the waves, this is the choice.
The Rally has medium to fast turning. This allows wave riders out there to stay in touch with the kite as it drifts down the line and the back line tension stays consistent even when you are heading towards the kite on a wave. This is exceptionally useful because as you come off the top of a wave and drop back in you have the kite waiting to deliver power as you get to the transition into the flats. From there you can use that power to create a solid bottom turn speed and redirect for another hit.
Looping through the window was good and the additional 2 mini struts on the wingtips do add to rigidity. Again for waves this allows you to loop into a wave and have the kite ready for action as you go into your first bottom turn.
As one of the top coaching kites at REAL this year, the 2014 Rally is bound to be a great asset to anyone’s quiver whether in the ocean or freeriding. The relaunch is automatic and this is one of the kites best attributes.
REAL Pro Tip – For the waves you can always ride a bar size bigger to get extra turning if you are a rider that likes to use the kite a lot through the wave ride.
