The 2013 Slingshot Celeritas is an all around kitesurf board that is designed for 1ft mush or flat-water through to thumping head high surf.
The new Celeritas offers 2 different constructions to choose from: EPX and WVX. Check out the EPX version of this board: Other new additions to the 2013 Celeritas include a “thumb” tail and a little more rocker than the proven original template. This allows riders to be able to cruise through mushy waves AND maintain control in larger surf. You can ride this board strapped or strapless.
CELERITAS WVX SPECS:
• 5’6” x 18 ½” x 2 ¼”.
• 5’8” x 18 ½” x 2 ¼”.
• 5’11” x 20 ½” x 2 ½”.
• WVX Construction (Bamboo Veneer + Fluid X)
• FCS fin boxes / Tri fin setup. WVX comes stock with performance core fins.
• Pre-installed Eva surf pads and straps are included.
What we like:
As well as looking great, the high end WVX construction makes this board lightweight, flexible and strong. If you ride strapless you will be pleased to know that Slingshot has reverted to a regular strap insert system which you can hardly notice when the straps are removed. We also like the grippy pads and smooth ride on this board. More than likely the Celeritas will be REAL team favorite because it performs in such a wide range of conditions.
What we don’t like:
The template and tail shape on the 2013 Celeritas are a big change from years past. Considering its previous popularity, some riders may be confused on the purpose of this board. We also don’t like that Slingshot pre-install the front pad which forces you to ride with the pad even if you would prefer not to.
Why you want the Celeritas WVX:
The proven super strong construction and great looks make this board a solid bet for your all around kitesurf board. You can ride this board in all conditions including cruising flat water in lightwind and shredding solid waves when it’s on.
I really enjoyed riding this board and think it deserves a spot in many people's quivers. If only Slingshot didn't pre-install the front pad this would be my contender for board of the year.
REALpro Tip: Don't be afraid to wax the whole deck of the board (even in front of the front pad). You never know when your foot may slip off the pad and you will be thankful to have a little extra traction.
