Stoked on the Asylum
by Chris Hutchison on August 11, 2012
I'm going to start this off by saying that this board is SICK! The guys at slingshot have nailed it with the new 2013 Asylum! I road it for the first time yesterday finless with boots, and impressed is an understatement. The board has tons of pop, goes upwind like a champ, and cuts through the chop like a knife. The channels in the bottom give the illusion of riding it with fins, and I found myself being able to hold more of an edge than normal finless. Slingshot has also perfected the amount of rocker and flex. The asylum gives you just enough rocker to allow for soft landings, but doesn't take away from its upwindability. It also gives the perfect amount of flex to allow for a smooth ride without giving up pop. If you are looking for that next progression push, than this is your board.
I Really Like This Board
by Troy AhYo on August 8, 2012
I was on a 2012 Mayhem. This board is drastically different and my first couple of rides demonstrated this right away. One, the rocker helps cut thru the chop. Huge difference and great improvement. Two, the board shape lends to a much faster planing and has a bunch more pop. Three, the new bindings hold your feet in better, significantly better. Four, I got the lime color which is super sick with the graphics. I have yet to really break the board in but after my first couple of rides, I am stoked.
Other things new for 2013: new binding attachment bolts, new style of fast track system allow you to move bindings closer to the center, channels that run the entire length of the board.
138 Asylum Test Drive
by Tommie Kogut on July 25, 2012
Took the 138 Size board out for a test drive and have so say this board is very good.Thought this board would be another board that was only for aggressive riding but not the case. This boards is fast with a smooth ride and that is a hard combination to master. I am 185 LBS and the 138 size is the right size for powered up riding in all conditions for me. This board has slightly more rocker over the misfit but thankfully not to much rocker to give up up wind performance. Thank you Slingshot for a great new model that has all performance for aggressive riding but still easy to ride for a day to day cruiser. If you are currently riding a misfit check out the Asylum for your next slingshot ride.
