Description

Liquid Force stripped down the NRG Light Breeze to offer a light weight kite with a lot of power for light wind sessions. The flat profile and skinnier design of this kite help you ride upwind even when you have to cycle the kite to keep riding. You shouldn't expect this kite to have the performance turning of the smaller NRG, but you will be scoring sessions when you used to be hanging on the beach.

LF NRG LIGHT BREEZE 2013 COMPLETE PACKAGE SPECS:
• 2013 NRG Light Breeze Sizes: 14m, 16m
• 2013 LF CPR 55cm Control Bar (w/ 23m lines for 14 - 16m)
• 7m Line Extensions
• Liquid Force Kite Leash
• Max Flow Super Shaft Pump
• Basic Kite Repair Kit
• Backpack

What we like:
The NRG rides upwind better than most other light wind kites on the market. The 16m has comparable power to the Naish Fly or Slingshot Turbine, but it is much better when you are trying to stay in the same spot. The 14m make a great big kite for the smaller rider or the person that doesn't want a big slow kite. By adding the 7m line extensions you can really expand the size of the wind window and power stroke of the NRG Light Breeze. Guess what? The NRG Light Breeze can water relaunch too.

What we don't like:
We don't like to ride big kites because they are slow. The speed has improved on the Light Breeze line, but they are still big slow kites. You can use this to your advantage and practice unhooked tricks without the kite flying out of control.

Why you want the 2013 NRG Light Breeze:
It is a crazy feeling to be under powered and riding upwind at the same time. The NRG is great for not having to walk back up the beach. If the wind really craps out, you can keep cycling the kite and make it back to where you started. Combine that with some good low end power and you will be fired up for 8-18mph of wind.

  1. Great Kite

    by Scott G. on January 3, 2013

Spent some time in the Bahamas with the family and got a chance to ride the 2013 14M NRG on the Sea of Abaco, Tahiti Beach. What an awesome kite!
  2. Need some NRG?

by The light wind solution on November 7, 2012

If you are bored of waiting on the spot for the wind to pick up so you could use your 12 or 13, it is time for you to get one of those babies or both... Those light breeze series are perfect for riding in light wind conditions. If you don't believe me check the race report of kite of thunder. I only got to race once but with a 16 NRG light breeze and it lead me directly to victory!!! The big improvement this year is a redesigned wingtip and a direct connection bridle on the back lines for easy relaunch and fast turning. Which makes this kite my favorite kite for 2013.
  3. 16m Is MONEY!

by Nuzzi on October 30, 2012

The 16m NRG is much better than expected. For the intermediate rider that wants to get a lot of power from their kite and still rip upwind, the NRG Light Breeze should be seriously considered.

I found the 16m to have good relaunch and had no issues with it. I still have not tested it teaching a beginner which is always the true test of light wind relaunch. I am sure it will do fine though. The LE bridal was a little long and tangled on the wing tip when I got a launch one time but this was not an issue with water relaunch.

I tested this kite in the lightest winds I could fly a kite in and it stayed in the air and got me riding. It was blowing 8-10mph and I was riding the Best Breeze 145cm. I could not stay upwind but I could ride. Once the wind went to 10-15mph I had no problem staying upwind and the kite had a sporty turn for a 16m.

The ability to add 7m line extensions to get 30m of total line length really helps the low end performance. It makes the kite feel a bit spongy because the lines are so long, but it works. Most people will be fine on the standard 23m.
