Now in its 3rd year, the Slingshot Kiteboarding Comp Stick control bar sets the standard for the rider who demands it all. Designed specifically for the RPM , the Rally and the Turbine this bar will also work well with any 4 line kite.
Quick Release: The Slingshot butter box is a simple and effective push-away quick release. The release system is solid enough to not come open by accident and easy to re-engage in the water.
Depower: The depower rope is built into the Chicken loop butter box on the Comp Stick. The depower is easy to pull on even under tension and we have had no reports of the rope wearing through in this area.
Swivel: Slingshot’s Surefire Spinner is undoubtedly one of the best on the market and continues to unwind your lines in all conditions. The only thing that will prevent the spinning is sand in the mechanism. However if you can keep the spinner sand free it will continue to spin and spin.
Safety System: The Comp Stick has a leash attachment point on the chicken loop. This allows you to flag the kite out on one line for 100% depower – great for self landing and getting yourself out of trouble. You can also connect your least to the depower line which offers up a great go-between for riders not wanting to simply connect their leash to the chicken loop.
Bar Specs: The bar comes in 3 sizes (each with different line lengths: 17 inch (with 23m lines), 20 inch (with 25m lines) and 23 inch (2ith 27m) lines. Slingshot lines are loaded to carry 800lbs and are some of the strongest on the market.
We Really Like: how clean the Slingshot bar is. When out taking a session it feels minimal in your hands and doesn’t get in the way of busting tricks or shredding waves, even with all those safety features!
Review by Pete:
The Slingshot Comp Stick control bar is simple, solid and reliable.
Pros: The spinner on the center lines works really well on this bar and when you unhook, the chicken loop stays solid and is easy to hook back in to. Overall the bar has a good feeling of quality about it.
Cons: The positioning of the centerline flagging connector right about the chicken loop in the middle means that sometimes it is possible to accidentally hook into the red velcro loop attached to the flagging line. If you are unhooking alot you might experience this otherwise it isn't likely to be too much of an issue.
Realpro tip: Make sure you keep the center swivel free of sand and dirt. If you have access to freshwater when sessioning try to remember to rinse it often to keep it working well.
