Liquid Force

Description

The NRG is the freeride kite in the Liquid Force lineup that also includes the Liquid Force Envy and the Nirvana. Make sure you also check out 14m and 16m: the NRG Lightbreeze to help conquer light wind sessions.

Liquid Force NRG Tech Specs:
Bar size recommendations:
- 6m & 8m = 45cm control bar
- 10m = 50cm control bar
- 12m = 55cm control bar

Who is it for?
Anyone and everyone. This kite works really well for riding waves, boosting, cruising, learning new tricks…. The list goes on.

What kind of conditions is it best suited for?
All wind conditions, particularly suited to gusty conditions due to the large wind range.

How is it different to the Envy?
The NRG is flatter than the envy and sits closer to the edge of the wind window. This improves upwind performance, wind range and grunt. The Envy creates better pop for unhooked freestyle tricks because it sits deeper in the wind window. Freestyle bandits should definitely have a good look at the LF Envy or the Nirvana.

How well are the kites built?
Liquid force has an excellent reputation for build quality and their kites always feel solid.

How easy it to use?
The max flow inflation system makes it easy and quick to inflate and the ability to turn the power off and on makes the kite feel really safe. This kite is a breeze to fly straight out of the box, no complicated set up is required.

What is the bar like?
The Liquid Force CPR bar is tried and tested. We really like the clean depower system and comfortable grip. Click here to read more about the CPR bar. The CPR bar comes in 45 or 50cm and has 23m lines as standard.

We Really Like: This kite soars upwind so well. If you are riding in the waves or learning new tricks, it makes a big difference to be able to stay upwind so easily. The hangtime is also a blast when boosting on the smaller sizes!

Review by Pete:

The NRG is a great all around kite and will work for 99% of riders in all conditions.

Pros: This kite goes upwind really well and boosts really high. The NRG also has a lot of grunt so you can ride a 10m when your friends are on 12s and a 12m when your friends are on 14s etc. We also love the wind range, which allows you to feel safe in all kinds of conditions.

Cons: If hardcore freestyle is your thing, you may prefer a kite that sits deeper in the wind window (further back) such as the Liquid Force Envy. That being said, we have had lots of freestyle and park sessions on the NRG and it seems to still work really well. The 12m is actually a great light wind wakestyle kite – who knew!

Realpro tip: If you are into waveriding, the NRG also allows you to ride a wave “upwind” when the wind is side onshore (riding almost into the wind to be able to go both waves on the wave.) Other kites that sit deeper in the window make this nearly impossible as you find yourself fighting the kite to stay on the wave!

Customer Reviews

  1. Insane boost, great upwind performance

by Stellato REAL Lesson Center on April 15, 2013

This kite is extremely fast and is a joy to fly for riders at any level. A great surf kite because it is very responsive and good upwind. Also a great kite for freeride/freestyle, and when you do pull the trigger to jump this kite will boost to the moon! Max flow inflation system is always great for inflating and deflating quickly.

The open center canopy and overall geometry produce a ton of power that can satisfy advanced kiters who prefer to be "lit" at all times!
