Following the success of the first version of the Redline Bar, Best have stuck with the same redline system for their 2012 bar. The Best Kiteboarding Redline Contol Bar V2 is a 4 line bar designed to be used with any 4 line Best kite such as the the Kahoona V3, the Taboo, the TS and the Kahoona V4 +.
Quick Release: The quick release remains a push-to-release system and is easy to reassemble on the water. Best have upgraded the cuff on the 2012 V2 bar to make sure there are no accidental releases.
Depower: The Redline bar boasts a simple depower strap and is clean and effective. Even though it is a strap system it offers plenty of depower and more than enough bar throw.
Swivel: There is a swivel system set up just above the chicken loop to allow the center lines to untwist after kiteloops and rolls. Best claim to have added drainage vents and low profile twist tabs to help the swivel move smoothly. Thank goodness they did as the center lines remain tangle free throughout your session.
Safety System: The redline system allows you to connect your leash to a safety flagging line at the chicken loop. If you get into trouble and pull the release, the kite will flag out on to the front 2 lines.
Bar Specs: The bar comes in 47cm, 52cm, and 57cm. The lines are 23m total (20m lines with 3m leaders) and are rated to 700lb and color coded. All bars come with 3m line extensions (recommended for kite size 12 and bigger).
We Really Like: The V2 redline bar has a sacrifice insert system. This system allows you to replace the insert in the bar center as it gets worn over time - no more eroded center lines!
Review by Pete:
The redline bar is a good clean bar .
Pros: I like the above the bar depower which keeps the chicken loop clean and clutter free. The safety system seems really dependable and the bar is comfy in your hands on long sessions. The bar looks really great too which doesn't hurt!
Cons: The red depower straps can get in the way a little when you have alot of depower pulled on and sometimes the chicken loop rotates when unhooked, making it a little harder to hook back in.
Realpro tip: Pass the redline ring over the chicken loop to get the best of both worlds if you are are more advanced and like to ride suicide. the kite will not flag out if you crash unhook but if you pull the quick release you will be able to flag it out and self rescue.
