REAL Coaches LOVE the Turbine. As soon as there is texture on the water the Turbine turns on. This kite delivers a ton of power in a light weight 3 strut design. The best wind range for the Turbine is 7-15mph. In those conditions you will find the Turbine out perform any other light wind kiteboarding kite on the market. It is super stable. 1. After Work Session Saver

    by Trey B on June 16, 2011

The Turbine I just got is awesome! It is going to double my time on the water.

I got off work and it was blowing 10-12 directly on shore. I rode in the surf on my Influence 135 for 2.5 hours.

Last summer I did not get these sessions because I didn't have the Turbine.
  2. Better than my Cabrinha 14

by Able on May 25, 2011

I always used to hate kites bigger than 14 meters, and I have owned at least 3 of them over the years. This kite is different. It really works. It turns about as fast as a Cabrina 14 m but has much more pull.
  3. Light wind big kite

by Mark on May 17, 2011

I got to Use this kite this weekend at Real. While it may not be super responsive, we had a very light day. (10-12mph) I was the only kite in the sky. Paired with a big board I got in a session when others could not. For that I would give it a big thumbs up. Relaunch in such light conditions was workable, not instant but it only took a minute or so, seemed pretty good for such a huge kite.
  4. Great for the light stuff

by Peter on May 14, 2011

Well thanks for the suggestion, I rode the Turbine till I couldn’t see it any more tonight. All in all its a keeper!

I weigh 240 lbs and was on a Spleene Monster Door at 165x65 so pretty big. The wind was the lightest I have ever ridden, Avon Sound showed 8 to 12 mph on IKitesurf while I was out. The kite definitely has its own wind range, compared to my Rally 14, but might be a bit of an overlap with the RPM 14. It was mostly powered up with some sineing at the beginning of the session.

I rode starting from the Canadian Hole all the way south to the islands and back. The coolest thing about the session was that since the wind was almost straight off shore, the water was perfectly flat. I have never ridden water that smooth before.

Ok here’s who needs this kite: A guy who does not live in Cape Hatteras, but instead in a place where you haven’t had wind for over a week, and you are totally in need of a session. Along comes 10 mph wind and out you go, getting the much needed fix. That’s where I live unfortunately.

Details about the kite – launches without effort even in such light wind. Just pull a back line and wait a few seconds. Very very stable in the sky for beginners trying to get ready for a launch. My Rally has a bad habit of being very hard to get back overhead if you let it drift a bit in very light wind – this one did not do that. Very light feeling kite and fast turning, for a 17 meter kite that is. It has a much lighter feel than a Cabrinha 14. Turns pretty fast for a 17 which to me is very important. I hate flying these slow heavy kites, and every big kite this size I have ever tried was not worth the effort. This one is, so that is the main reason for me it is a keeper.

The wind was pretty gusty and being such a big kite it pulled pretty hard in the gusts, but the depower allowed me to handle it, whereas older big kites I have used would have been no fun for this reason. This kite did not deform at all like the Rally does. I tried a few jumps although with the huge board and light wind didn’t get the air I would like. That’s mostly the board, the kite would have surprised me if I had gotten up. My anemometer was reading 6 mph on shore when I came in. Not once in the session did I find myself without enough power to maintain a plane, and every transition except one or two were still planing.

    All in all pretty good!
